Canadianbird. I don't think that they visit these sites much. Just my opinion. I think what might be a bigger driver in their decisions to make bikes would be found in sales data. Their own mostly. The bird wasn't a big seller athough when it first came out and was a speed champ it seemed to do better in the sales market. Might have been a bigger seller if they would have kept up with the competition in the HP and speed stakes after the busa came out. If they looked at where the other manufacturers were making their sales they might be more inclined to make a replacement as the Busa and ZX14 have real good sales figures from what I read and hear.

As a lover of it, I want a new bird with lowered weight and center of weight; lighter, more powered for zx14s' and busas', wilder plastics and a little bit graphics..

Sorry guys about the thread. I realized too late the bloody article was dated 2003. That would've been a wonderful machine.

Well it sparked some good conversation about what we would all wish for in a possible replacement.

    Re: 2009 CBR1200XX

I was reading the Australian Motorcycle News today and the new VFR, albeit modelled on the V5 engine from the RC211V will only have around 150HP ( 110kw ) for its 1000cc. Its not worth selling the bird for a reduction in power. I will keep mine and just hope they bring out a new one, one day but I wont hold my breath. Honda have lost the plot with its failure to bring out something to rival the Hayabusa.....but we all know that.

I spoke to a neighbour who works at the dealer close by. No new Bird, new VFR, the 1000 cc CB is here. Honda bags available for both. The Valdera(?) will be here next month. All with linked abs I believe. Keep tarting up you Birds b/c I think a new one is a pipe dream.

May not have been a huge seller in the US but the BB has been the top seller in it's class for quite a few years in Oz and was still selling very well in the UK and EU
That, considering the lack of major updates is quite impressive

    Re: 2009 CBR1200XX

I was watching Superbikes the other day and they said that the hayabusa was the longest running unchanged bike ever, Not changeing from when it came out till this year when they redid the whole bike. But in realilty It had to be the bb even though they arent here in the states they were still produced and very unchanged.

Para045... I've always wondered about the sales in other places. From the membership on this forum and other bird forums it always seemed that the bird was very popular outside of the US. It was also available for a longer period of time overseas so that would also verify your point.

Yes they only stopped importing them here in Aus and I think the UK/EU in the middle of last year
You can still pick up the odd new BB here in Aus even now

I was in Canberra on the weekend and there were several in a shop there that are going out the door for $14990 on the road. Silver 07 or 08's from what I could see.

    Re: 2009 CBR1200XX

They made 50 www.boxertrix.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5953 scroll down for full page add.
    It was built by V&M,bored to 1198,ported head,akrapovic exhaust,200 hp,96 tq-198mph- penske rear shock-special red/wht/blk 50th anv. paint- special cams. price 15,595.00 euro ($ 22,238.00 today)
basicly they did everything we would do if we had the money.
Do not know if any made it to US -this one is in Yorkshire.
You could build one but the cams and stickers on paint job would be hard to find.
So they did make it it is just rare as hell! most are probably in storage-to rare to ride.
google cbr1200xx there are 1 or 2 mag.articals about it.
