Yes, I know the Duc ST 4 was high maintenance. That's why I didn't buy one, but I think everyone should own a Duc, once in their life. I'm still waiting. I almost bought a Guzzi Le Mans. I'd still love to own one. Hope I don't run out of time.

Well its not the looker that the bird is. I think I would prefer the FJR over this modeland that might be what Yamaha was thinking as well.

TDM is a kind of motorcycle that you look at and you can't categorize it...
you might thnk it it an on/off kind but is rather low and the tyres won't help on dirt.....
The back looks kind of sporty but the front 18 inch rim doeshn't give you the fell to try it hard...
..
The riding position sets you upright but the windshield is rather low and and the handlebar is rather away due to the long shaped tank...
The closest image i can get from the past , is the Yamaha TDR 250 which i used to own....its the only one that suits it even being on the 2 stroke zone

ZX14, great all round bike, although a little chunky around the front for my likings.

Before I bought my BIRD I rode and still own the '93 CBR1000F I love the bike. If there was no BIRD I would still be riding that machine waiting for Honda to come out with something like it.

Early model Busa for me. Dont like the look current model. I also dont mind the Suzuki 1200 Bandit. Very comfortable and value for money. ZX14 looks good to. To old for full on sports bikes now. I go for more comfort these days.......

I was off bikes for around 13 years but was looking for a good 1000F before I got the Bird.
Unfortunately there were only 2 around at the time and one was very tatty 94 with 95 000km for $5000AUD and a good condition 96 with 60 000km for $6900 in a dealer
Ended up getting my 98 BB for $7500 2 years ago with 32 000km and lots of extras
Other than that either an ST1100/1300 or maybe a ZX14 although I still am not sure about the looks
Still a hell of a lot better than an Eyeabuser |

Had my bird for a week and im going off it real fast ( its the vibration 3500 to 4500 rpm ) - i may not have a Bird for much longer - if i get rid of it ill go for a Thunderace
I had an exup 1000 for a summer handlings slow compared to a bird- but omfg zero vives and toootaly creamy smooth engine and power delivery - i could marry that engine ( thunder ace same engine but in 750cc race derived chassis )
If Honda hadnt made the Bird Id invent it - but with the exup engine
Burgandy 97 Bird ( UK spec i think)
Mods so far - Heated Grips - Hi level clear screen ( good cos im on theshort side at 5ft 8in and i can see ahead when im crouched down ) -where on it when i bought it
Ive done the triangle suspension plate thingy to lower seat height - seams to work but handling sucks - so im booked in to lower the front end up to an inch- ive raised the clip on bars 2cm - while im on the prowl for VFR bars
I feel such a mug falling for the Smooth Twin Balancing Shaft BSH1T Honda Blurb - The Exup was waaay smoother and it was an old dog

well invite me to reception. cbr1100xx is smoth enough for me. the 1100xx is the only sport bike with engine mounted solid to its frame. no rubber mounts.now that is awsome!

I've been on a few bikes in my time but not anything called a exup 1000. Sounds like quite a machine if its that silky smooth. My bird doesn't seem bad in that RPM range. Maybe you need a CCT in your bird.
