It occurred to me that we need an outlet to wax lyrical about our passion for our birds.

At the risk of being labelled a hopeless romantic, here is a beginning.

And yes, I know it, I'm no poet!

A challenge for you - Make up a verse or two. Or share inspiration you've found or heard, in thought or in word.

Your partner ... she won't understand.

BLACKBIRD SONG

Fair maiden ready to dance
Luring me in a welcome trance
I dreamt of you last night
Blackbird, lets take flight

With meekness I approach
Safety gear cannot encroach
The desire I have for you
Blackbird, I’m forever true

A deep rumble the throttle brings
As your twin pipes sweetly sing
My imagination soars
Blackbird, I am yours

Your seat moulds me into you
The stand from repose releases
Upon your peg I place my shoe
Blackbird, this is your cue

My wrist flicks, my vision blurs
Dreams soar as the horizons I explore
All mere mortals I pass by
Blackbird, with grace you fly

Majestic, winding mountain lanes
Thrilling, twisting ocean ways
Curves and corners you own
Blackbird, pilot the zone

Beauty and beast are one
Delight and ecstasy merge
On you I belong
Blackbird, Wild hearted and strong

Reluctantly I head for home
Many roads we’ve roamed
Grateful for the experience
Blackbird, it’s been intense

Thanks for the fun
But the day is done
My energy is dying
Blackbird, for you I’ll be pining

.................................................. ..

Birdmanxx, me thinks you need to go for a ride, or find a hobby....

Bullet, I was tired and got a bit sloppy.

Nutter, I won't mention what's been falling from the sky, but yes a ride would have been nice yesterday. Got any suggestions for hobbies? Maybe I could join an internet forum on blackbirds, that would fill in the time between rides!

Creative writing doesn't have to rhyme, it could just be an expression of what your Blackbird does for you ...

for example

I road a dragon today, swift and mean
It gave me a thrill as it swooped and twirled
I nearly fell off as it banked and looped
It alighted with a light touch upon the ground
Dreams on my blackbird find other worlds.

i thought i'll add to this.
my poem for my bike

The Legendary Honda Blackbird CBR1100XX

through the wilderness & canyons
up & down the mountains
around & over the hills
a destination laced with thrills
drift'n by an old country town
locals watch on as rumers go around
a local hero passes through its town
on a silver black phantom bike
stopping at a pub for a beer
a chatt & a cheer
back at the saddle with joy
a Honda Blackbird is my toy
a legend in time
a legendary ride
a cool rider
& a great ride

Just a small thread jack.

The European settlers that came to Alberta, called the deer here " Red Deer" after the animals which they new from the old country....but in reality, they were refering to "Elk"...

However, even though they were calling an Elk , a Deer, the name "Red Deer" stuck.

Lois

P.S...thank god they didn't call that animal the "flaming purple dirt pig"
