When I have my bike on the center stand and give it gas, the rear wheel starts to spin a little bit even though it is in neutral. Is this normal.

Methinks, yes. Mine does too, as does my zzr 600. My best guess would be that although the gear is not engaged, somethin in there is still spinning, (transmission?) and that somethin being in close proximity to what it is that makes the wheel move (crankshaft?), maybe barely touches ever-so-slightly, and makes the wheel spin; but I'm sure somebody has a better explanation!

Whoa thats not good. You need to take it to your dealer. Kawasuki's are known from having this issue from the factory. It is very dangerous in fact over time the rear wheel will spin at idle and can cause your motorcycle to just take off from underneath you. ARMY STRONG I suggest that you join the class action lawsuit that is against Kawasaki because of the many deaths in asia from such mis haps. As for you JRhurt your only option is a complete bottom end motor rebuild (transmission, new crank shaft, and complete clutch assembly) I cant beleive you guys thought this was normal........ One of my friends was killed on his ZX7R from this very thing, it was tragic. Ok ok so I am full of shit but hey got ya scared for a minute didnt it? Its perfectly normal!

Every motorbike I have ever owned does this.
It is due to the forces generated in the fluid and the close proximity of the clutch assembly to the drive gears.
If it moves the bike while you are in neutral ON the tarmac ...... then worry !
My new '07 does this off the showroom floor

Yes, perfectly normal.
When I start my '07 & it is cold, if the chain is clean & lubed, it will do it at idle. It is hydraulic drag between the dogs in the gearbox (rather like a very inefficient torque converter), transferring force to the rear wheel. You can stop it easily with your hand on the tyre. My '98 also did it.
You can also start it, when it is warmer & doesn't start turning by itself, by giving the rear wheel a bit of a push.

Thanks for the responses. I figured it was normal, but always feels better to know for sure. Luckily CBRbear's response wasn't first, had a feeling he might be kidding.

I'll still be your friend...only cause you got a nice bike!
