The fact that not many people in the States know what it is, and even less have them. As an added benefit, no one really knows it an 1100 so the little 600's always think they have a shot.

I love the comfort, power, and quality. And I don't see 100 other Blackbirds on my journeys

I like the pure unadulterated acceleration, and rock solid reliability...

WE ALL LOVE OUR BIRDS, THAT'S WHY WE RIDE THEM, AND FARKLE THEM "TO DEATH", AND OVER MAINTAIN THEM, OVER SPEND ON THEM, SHIT, SOME EVEN KEEP THEM IN THEIR LIVING ROOMS.

My brother has an '06 GSXR1000 and I have ridden it ........................ It makes my 'Bird handle like a submarine !!! All 'Bird lovers, if they are honest, will tell you that the litre bikes will kill the 'Bird through the twisties/mountains. It is only on a long run that the 'Bird will stretch it's legs beyond the Hyper Sports machines.

UNfortunetly, DragonXX you are right. However, There are many riders that ride the liter bikes that dont know how to ride correctly. So I would believe that he has run into a couple liter bikes with less skilled riders, and i am assuming he is a good rider, and was able to beat them.

Sad but true....... and to add to this , I left my Bird behind this year on my annual AZ trip / drunk / vacation from the wife.....anyways in it's place I took my brand new 07 GSXR1000. My buddy rides an 02 with pipe-power commander etc. His bird and mine are evenly matched when we ride together. So, after breaking in the new Gixxer, we decided to have it out , northbound on I-40 between the Colorado river and the turn off to Lake Havasu City. We both did a 3rd gear roll on from 60 mph.... His XX started pulling away ( 2 bike lenths).... that was until the Gixxer hit 8000 rpm, then bye bye Birdie. Some of you may be thinking...well, the Bird would catch it on top end... Well.... I only took it up to 167 mph (GPS) accnt the rear suspension was set way to stiff, and I was just my feeling at the time, but the the gixxer was still pulling mightly hard, and there was lots of throttle/rev's still availble to me. Could the bird take it on top end?( here we go with the can of worms) Well put it this way, my buddy and his XX were a long long* ways behind me when I finaly let off, my pal is no wimp as he's raced carrera's with his bird at speeds well above 165mph. Maybe, given another 5 miles of road the XX would have started to close the gap....this is unknown, because I don't know what the top end on the gixxer is....yet. Handling....where to start. My XX , I have sticky tires, 6mm shim, re- worked front end, and nothing to live for. I ride hard and have had to replace knee pucks on my leathers. So, is my new gixxer better in the twisties??? don't even get me started. The gixxer is way more flickable, has 40 times better suspension, more horse power, is shorter, lighter and the list goes on. Which bike is better? better for what??????? Will I sell my XX? Hell no, the bird plain old kicks the gixxer's ass in long range work. Way more comfortable to ride. Has much better power delivery, faster off the line * and is very sleek sleeper. Not trying to start a pissing contest....I own both bikes, and this is simply my opinion. * when saying a long long ways, I mean, more than 10 bike lenths, but less than a half of mile. Yes, maybe could have gotten a better judge of distance, but if one of you wants to start shoulder checking at a hundred and sixty miles per hour, fill your boots. *I simply say this account, I must use more throttle to leave a stop light than I ever did on my XX. That, and I did a little light to light work against the before mentioned XX and with out having to resort to doing 8000rpm launches, found it very difficult to keep up with him for the first 10 bike lenths after leaving stop lights etc. Lou

| Fastest XX in AZ!!! | Re: WHO LOVES THEIR BIRD AS MUCH AS I DO!
I love the great quality that she already has and the potential that I see in her. She is a mistress that my wife even enjoys with me. I have been on several bikes in my short life and I have found myself to be most comfortable on her. It is not her seat, or her stance, or her size that makes her comfortable. It is the fact the she feels like an extension of my frame. I feel more awkward walking on my own two feet than I do riding on her back. She will forever be a part of me, my memories and my family. She is mine and that is what I love most about her. A little over the top?

Every time I straddle my Bird', and hit the starter, I get an awesome feeling of "unmatched power with smoothness", that I never got from riding those air-cooled dinosaurs. After the ride is over, all I can say is, "amazing." I don't know if I could be happier with any other motorcycle.

I don't know if there is only one thing I like most about my 'Bird. She has comfort, speed, agility, beauty, undeniable reliability and makes my wife jealous when I spend time with her alone. What else can anyone ask for in machine that extends your soul and freedom. Cheers to the XX and all who enjoy her.

I won't ever own any more HD's. The performance, engineering, and reliability of the Japanese brands, far outways the "look and sound" of the antiquated air-cooled, V-twin design, at least in my eyes. Not to mention the "price vs. value" comparison. Please, don't anyone tell me about "resale value." I don't buy my motorcycles for investment purposes. I buy them to ride. Plus the price for the used HD's has definately came down in the past few years. Everyone has their opinions, and these are just mine.

I love mine too! For a lot of reasons but, lately I find she lacks a bit of torque around town>??? I think I'm getting used to the power...Too smooth...Sprockets and chain needs replacement, maybe I should go with a torquier set-up like bigger in the back??
