We poor slobs pretty much on have the Givi or Hepco & Becker options...
And, in fact, I am about to finally break down and score some Givi's for my Night Train ... the same tiny, slightly gay-looking ones that BrianR has on his XX: the black Givi EN21. They are the smallest (read: thinner) of the available bags... for the application I intend to use them for, I don't really want big-ass, massive E36 cases hanging out in the wind.
Ooooo.... oooooooo.... while I don't care for the orange colors, the paint job otherwise seems quite fitting for a Warchild bike... | Dale, Sport Touring Accessories can get the OEM bags (from Europe) with all mounting hardware for $895. Fit, finish, and color are perfect. That is where I got mine, and I love them. They are located in Tapoco,NC. sporttouringusa.com ,(828) 498-2231 ask for Fransois.

I agree that the current 'Bird is pretty damned good how it is. I don't want any more HP. Less heat, better electronics, windscreen, luggage options, etc. Yeah I don't get Honda. They have def. lost the lead in a lot of things--just way too conservative. I don't care about paint colors--it aint called a BLACKbird for nothing.. ;-)
And I have a VFR, and while the V4 is cool--the straight 4 on the Blackbird is freaking AWESOME! I remember the first time I heard the motor.. I got this huge grin on my face; "I love it!!". Awesome sound.. feels great, very balanced.

My feeling is to get the Bird where you want it, not counting bling, it's necessary to re-build the front and rear suspension. Although the 6mm shim is an improvement it doesn't really work after there's 35 or so thou on the odometre. Luggage is necessary if touring in part of your plan, I prefer hard luggage, soft works also. Risers of of your choice if you have short arms. Slip ons/full system, PCiii, if you want the sound and to smooth out the mid-range. OR, leave it stock and do your thing. After owning a Bird for 5 years and addressing all the issues I mentioned, and some comfort issues my ride is near on perfect for me. My two cents worth.
