So I'm going to look at a 99 Bird tomorrow and was wondering......
My last 2 bikes were ZX-11's, a 2000 and a 2001 model year. Does anyone know how these compare with the Bird? Any opinions on which is the more "comfortable" bike? I'm a pretty big guy and am not ready for a Concourse, FJ or ST yet, but still looking for a comfy sport tourer.
Any thoughts?

The 'Bird is a very comfortable tourer ( I do 750 klms per week ).
Honda build quality is second to none.
It isn't, and never will be, no matter how much modding, a contender against the litre sports machines. But it was built for sports touring ............... and that's why I bought it
I've had plenty of Kwaka's in my time (last bike was a ZX9R). 2 issues any Kwaka owner will tell you about their bikes (if they're honest) is the poor body build and the gearbox. Other then that, they are one of the strongest motors I've experienced.
Took a ZX12R 2001 for a test ride when buying the 'Bird and it was a non-event. ..................... Honda killed it

I've ridden 3 zx11s. Stock, they are much more comfortable than a stock blackbird. I'm 6'3" and 205 lbs. My blackbird has heli bars and lowered pegs and while it's much better for my size, I still believe the zx11 bone stock is more comfortable. The Kwack also seems more narrow through the tank which splays my legs much less. Not a pretty sight, I assure you.

Put 2002 VFR bars on it. Made mine real comfortable. Looks factory too!

| Here are some of my impressions on a XX /1997 when compared with a ZZR D /1993 (same as ZX-11 D). XX Machine runs very smooth but you don’t feel the “extras” 15 HP over the ZZR. Very comfortable, good stability and easy handling when cornering, but hands touch the tank when you full steering to both sides (when parking). Feel machine heat coming from the left side of the seat. Bike has now 12.200 miles and it is very well maintained, 100% stock with the original 4X2 exhaust. ZZR My previous bike was a 1993-D model (“D´s” from 1993 to 2001) and it was something difficult to handle it in corners. It was a very impressive machine. Feel machine heat coming from the front panel area. Bike was equipped with Metzeler Sportec M-1 (they were great tires), 4x1 IXIL exhaust system (from Spain) and a K&N air filter. Excellent bike but handling is something difficult with side winds. |

Thanks for all of the input......
I saw the bike today and was allowed a brief ride around the neighborhood and I have to say the XX is one sweet machine but..... It felt narrower than what I'm used to and I think the ZX will be more comfy. I may only think that because it's what I'm used to.
Thanks again for all your help. I found a low mile ZX-11 at a dealer (reasonably priced too!) so I'll be making my decision by Friday.
Thanks again
