I also have an '07 and when I found out that my insurance would not reduce my premium if I installed an alarm I decided no need for alarm. I figure Honda's HISS and full cover insurance will be enough !

I have a Gorilla alarm with the pager remote. It was a less expensive alternative to the Scorpio, I think I paid about $150 for it. It works great.

I don't alarm my Bird. It's locked and covered in a secure garage and when travelling she never out of sight. I only take a motel where I can park her in front. After 6 years, so far so good. Perhaps I've been lucky. I don't ride to work, it's too short a distance. However if she were stolen I'd feel like I was raped over by the whole prison population of Australia.

It works great. | I've been looking into the Gorilla alarm w/ pager system. seems pretty decent and inexpensive. Anything you dont like about it? How is it on the battery? Is that little box really big? Where did you mount it?
any other info would be good...

Seems well made. Never had a problem with it draining the battery. I've used it for over a year now with no problems at all really. The alarm unit itself is about the size of your fist. I mounted it inside the tail section on the left side with the siren pointing down out of the hole where the handle is. It is pretty loud too. The remote/pager doesn't quite work out to the 1/2 mile that they claim. But it works fine in my house and work. Here it is for $140 on ebay cheaper than what I paid.
Some people don't like bike alarms, if someone is going to steal your bike, an alarm wont stop them, but why make it easy? It is kind of nice to be able to turn my back on the bike when I stop for lunch or whatever without worrying about someone messing with it.

cool man. thanks. i think i'm gonna go with that system.
yeah i know what you mean, if they really want your bike they're gonna get it with an alarm or not. but i think these fools that steal shit would rather pick up different bike that doesnt have an alarm... just as a bike with a chain/cable tied up to it.sure you could cut a cable or disarm an alarm. but why mess with that when there's a bike down the street with nothing protecting it. ya know?
my bike sits in a garage every night, i'm just concerned when i go on trips or when i park my bike in front of a friend's house/apartment where bikes have gotten stollen before...
i think this will make me feel better leaving my xx alone. |
