Anyone read this months Cycle World?

Looking through this months issue of Cycle World in the " readers opinion forum" , you know the one where people like us can write in and tell the editor why the XX is still the best bike on the planet..... .....anyhow, there are a whole wack of letters from folks telling Honda how much their motorcycle line up sucks this year. They also bash Honda for sitting back and letting the other manufacture's leave them in the dust. As well ,many are asking why Honda is doing nothing to improve their situation.

Sound familiar???? Looks like the XX forum isn't the only group of people who are questioning Honda's motives...or lack of....

Re: Anyone read this months Cycle World?

Maybe they will put the retro 1100F into production. Some of us old guys like that style bike, as a second bike perhaps. I like turning the loud handle on the Double X to much to give it up for retro memories however.

The thing about Honda is, while they will always produce a quality product, if they can't sell a minimum of 10000 "main stream" units for US consumption, they don't want to fool with it.

My hope is that they will update the line up and produce a new adventure touring bike utilizing the new 686cc single in the new TRX700XX sport ATV.

But in order for it to sell well, it must be priced competitively and look cool. The ancient air cooled XR650L needs to be put to rest.

Re: Anyone read this months Cycle World?

Totally agree !!
Honda has become staid the last decade.
What was the last Honda that made you sit up and say "WOW" ??
I think it's time they pull their finger out and get the R&D and Design department slammed into the 21st century.
This actually goes for their automotive range too.
It is also reflected in their F1 campaign with below par performances.
They built a great product in the XX 'Bird and then rested on their laurels and let all the opposition catch and surpass them.

Honda !!! .... The time is NOW

Yeah, I read that article and made the same observation. Personally, the "new" retro CB's don't excite me. It's sad that Honda has chose to go retro and not new with class-beating performance; that's what they used to do.

I agree.....the retro's were ground braking " back in the day"

Is this the best Honda can do???? a remake of an old bike?

Honda, You need to wake the heck up....

Re: Anyone read this months Cycle World?

Maybe the new 1000RR will lead the class of liter bikes this year in shoot outs. But knowing how much the commercial mags hate Honda, they will probably slam it. It looks better than the ZX10 however.

Sure it looks better than the ZX10....but it still doesn't look as good as my new GSXR 1000.........

Re: Anyone read this months Cycle World?

Congrats lois !
My brother has the '06 silver and black gixer 1000 (he doesn't commute).
And the most impressive thing about it is the power delivery. There is no dead spots on the rev counter. Most disconcerting thing is the ease with which the rear comes up under heavy breaking ... but then again I'm a sports tourer guy with a bike that weighs an extra 50 Kg's !

He has asked me to switch bikes for a long weekend so he can take the 'Bird to Phillip Is MotoGP (about 2000 Klm trip) .... I told him "you've made your bed, now lie in it"

Nope, we're just more forward thinking than the rest of the world. It's about time they get to the point we were at 3 years ago.

Re: Anyone read this months Cycle World?

It is discouraging to see Honda so clueless about this situation.

And I'm sorry, but the last Fireblade that was decent looking was the 929/954 series. Every one since then has look like a chunk of asscheese!

The worse of the batch is the brand new 2008 CBR1K.... this piece of squeeze looks like an angular wedge-box. WTF, Honda?

The titanium-colored 954 was one hot-looking machine....

I couldn't agree with you two more......this is also why I added this to the stable instead of another Honda product....
