see you have stage 2, jet kit. is the engine tuned for that kit ? dynorun etc, exhaust, filter, cams ?
do you have the right jet kit? , if you have bought a kit in usa, there is a chance you got a kit for us models only. many have done that mistake. there is a huge difference on the jetsizes for us and european models.

Remember guys, stock speedo's read apprx 6.25% higher than actual, & that difference gradually increases the faster you go, unless you've got a speedohealer, or an 18t front sprocket. My latest recorded top speed w\speedohealer & gps was 166mph...

Well, indicated 260 k several times but once went past that to the point where the needle was briefly at 3 o'clock which if I remember shows 280 on the guage.I know the speedo is highly inaccurate and I have a 1 tooth smaller front but the world was going by VERY FAST.
I have hit 139.8 mph in the 1/4.Yes it's modified now, wasn't on the street.

check the paper or on the box the kit came with, that it is specified for your region. if not your jets are way too small.
And you are sure about that it is "DYNOJET" and not an other produce, my first kit was a "ruud fredricks" dynokit... stay away that kit, it REALY A S*************""#¤%&%¤¤##" kit.

I've seen 177mph indicated, it was going too fast for my GPS to keep up.
But accounting for speedo error I would say it was closer to 166-168mph, it was still accelerating but I ran out of road.

I've gotten up to 165 mph indicated on a stock 97BB.. Decided that I'd been going too fast for too long, so I slowed down before I ran out of luck..

What do you mean your GPS couldn't keep up? Maybe more like you had to watch the road instead.
This was the fastest I've ever seen on my GPS. Of course I wasn't on the BB or even on the ground. There is a maximum speed that the GPS can measure but I can't remember it and I've certainly never seen it yet.

I have an older Magellan (Meridian Color) similiar to the one in your pict, it shows current speed and records the top speed. But it takes a few seconds at that top speed for it to record it. I've seen the 'current speed' show 150mph or so only to look up the 'top speed' and it shows 139mph or whatever. But yes, at those speeds I am more concerned at looking where I am going rather than watching the speedo.

Hi there, first time post (will put a proper intro in a bit)
I did a bit of high speed testing when I had my ZX9R and theres a real skill/technique in reaching anywhere near the claimed figures.
We used Bruntingthorpe airfield (old US Airbase in the UK which has a 2mile runway for the old B52's) and on my first run I saw the needle touching 160mph which I was really pleased with.....until I checked the datalogger and it said 148! Had another run and crept up to 150 logged. This was supposed to be a 170mph bike! We were doing it for a magazine article and one of their testers took my bike out and did 170 first go - about the same weight as me! Then we got chatting and the photographer showed me what I looked like on the bike. I felt like I was as tucked in as possible, yet looking at the comparison photos I was basically creating a wind break compared to the pro rider. Tried a couple more times and got to 163 (on the logger, the bike was indicating about 180 at this point). I was wearing textiles so the other 7mph I'll put down to that as leather slips through the air much easier, and at these speeds aerodynmics plays a huge part.
Only just bought the bird (a 2004 stealth black one) but theres no doubt it feels very much faster than the ZX9 and it also feels much slippier through the air so I have no doubt that geared correctly it will do close to 180 |

| & congrats. An 18t front sprocket should get the speed up where you want it.

Potentially, it has a higher top speed in theory, but the extra torque needed with taller gearing might not be available from the motor.
