WTF? Are you keeping secrets from us or have I been missing something again?
2 Birds? Lets hear about them both. Is Night Train going bye bye?

I've always imagined Warchild and Night Train sharing a coffin when the time came.

Oh, c'mon... just go buy my shit, people; we don't need to go down this drama-filled road...
Seriously, this is hard enough for me as it is.... it's going to kill me to sell Night Train.... |

I think the drama is only in your head dude. There is no way you can announce the sale of Night Train without expecting to get some questions.

*sigh*
Okay.... here's the deal....
There is nothing really wrong with Night Train, other than the fact it's pushing 90K on the odometer. Which, of course, is nothing for a Honda.
Especially one that has had the loving care this one has had lavished upon it all its life.
Yet, the bike's not getting any younger, and there is no hope of Honda ever growing a pair of balls and re-entering the hyper-bike market. So... it makes sense to me to grab another one. A new one would be preferred... or at least, one that is still quite young.
I had several Honda dealers do a warehouse search, and all confirmed my fear: there is not one single brand new, still-in-crate CBR1100XX left anywhere in the country. None whatsoever. If there is a brand-new, zero-mile Blackbird still in the US, it's un-crated and sitting on a showroom floor somewhere.
So... I had a chance to pick up a pretty silver 2002 'Bird with fairly low miles... about 17K; hardly even broken in yet! So, I did.
Now the slow and painful process of morphing it into the new LD rally bike.... it's hard going - for a lot of reasons - to disassemble Night Train and return it to stock form.
When I am done, I expect this new bike to carry me well into the next decade.
Okay, then, now that everyone knows.... go buy my shit so's I can pay off the new silver bike!! |

Why do'nt you set the most of the mods to your new bike???
Is this only a dollar matter. Especially the steel props and the PCIII!

Believe me gents, everything that can be moved over, IS being move over to the silver XX, trust me!
The PC-IIIusb is specific to the 1999-2001 model year XX's, and can't be used on the 2002 model, so it needs to be sold.
Bar-ends are surplus, so they need to go.
I don't use the Mirror Extenders now that I have specific brackets for the Philips HID Driving Lamps (which attach at the same place), so the Mirror Extenders need to go.
The new bike came with a high-end Ohlins, so the Wilbers is now excess.
But the vast, vast majority of goodies and specific LD equipment - aux cell, Philips HIDs, CUNT Box, custom powder-coated hardware, etc, etc... is most definitely moving over to "Ag1", no question about it! |

Just for general info for all of you.
The Florida Bike Trader Mags have had over the last two years one or two Low milage, some really low, Blackbirds on a very regular basis.
I bought mine a few years ago with 3400 miles and could not be told from new.
There was a one woman 2003 will simular mileage in the mag for months
before it sold.
I wanted it for my wife but cant get her to move off that dam Ducati...yet.
Math tells me that this condition will change rapidly because there are only a few Blackbirds anywhere and super low mileage bikes only last until the next guy starts riding the way many of us do.
I will post when I spot these bikes, there are enough of us around the state to make a fun project of checking out the bikes for shoppers outside the area.
That is how I found mine.

| I think what you’re doing makes a lot of sense Dale. Up until my little incident with my XX and my purchase of the Strom I was giving some pretty serious thought to upgrading my XX to a newer one. Personally, I feel that as good as the XX still is when compared to other bikes out there one would be hard pressed to get something different unless they are just looking for a change and is willing to take the risk of getting a less reliable bike. As far as I’m concerned there is no bike out there that is more reliable. I say get the fresher bikes while the getting’s good.

Smart man -- I almost had a stroke when I first saw mention (on the FJR board) that you were about to sell Night Train.

I don't really dislike any of the colors and could be happy with any of them
But I do plan on running mine into the ground if possible....
I understand wanting to jump to one with less miles though it prolongs the pleasure... |
