The Blackbird is a great bike. I love mine to pieces but don't imagine it is something it is not. John, do I think you outrun some Hayabusa and liter bikes? Sure, there are a lot of squids out there that can't find they're ass with both hands let alone ride.

JustinTime: That was the point in the beginning. Lots of people have a lot more ponies than they can turn on. It is difficult to discern minute differences by the seat of the pants. I bought the BB as a 100% stock collector bike, as I believe it will be valuable some day in original condition, as are already the 4 CBX's that I own. (all original) I am not enough of a gambler to put any of my bikes up for a race but it is 72 degrees here today, so I can ride and dream on and you can watch the snow come down and write about races. Thanks for the replies.

Once you get rid of that stupid EXUP 98-01 R1 will positively waste XX.
Anyway 04 is faster, but all the extra power is up in the rev range,10000rpm +,old long stroke motor was more fun on the street.Midrange hit was insane,,,,oh well,,memories.

| CBXJohn, I see your point but some of the comments made in this thread are not about whether a good rider on an XX can outrun a poor rider on a bike with more power. Some of the comments are cut and dried the XX can outrun R1's and what not. I understand not being willing to gamble with the title of a machine like the XX. BTW, it is not snowing here. I'm in Texas. It is 58 degrees during the day and high twenties/low thirties at night. The cold temps haven't stopped me from riding the bike every day. That is what gear is for.

Everyone that argues that a Blackbird can keep up with an R1 obviously hasn't ridden an R1.
A 1998 R1 dynoed around 136 to the wheel and weighs ~430lbs wet giving it a power to weight ratio of 3.16
A 1999 BB dynoed around 136 to the wheel and weighs ~550lbs wet giving it a power to weight ration of 4.07
The only reason the BB was only two tenths slower than the R1 is the wheelie factor. Look how much higher the mph is in a 1/4 of a mile. | I posted that from this site... Facts about the Honda Superblackbird
Glad it gave you a laugh

| I have two ride buddies who have 07 R1 standard bikes and up to about 100/110mph i can stay with them easily ,after that the weight difference and my larger body size means they pull away.however, they dont walk all over me and they top end clap out before i do ,now these are sports bikes ,mines an 06 heavy XX , Plus after a long ride i get off and walk ok and they walk like quasimodo, to me the XX may be slower over 100mph but is by far the better bike.

How many of you in this thread bought your blackbird because it was the fastest production bike? The bike was made for torgue comfort and high speed, not to mention its fit and finish. I purchased mine in Aug. 07 used (99). I wanted something enjoyable to ride that would also be faster than my 82 GS1100EZ that i purchased new. My GS was the fastest production bike in 82 but wasn't long before something came out faster, but i still have it and love to ride it. Enjoy your bikes, whats a 1/2 second on the street. As long as you can blow away any car for safety reasons thats what matters.

| I got my BB because i liked the looks , it was the most comfortable bike in that class and to me it had more power than i'd ever need ,i still think it's the best bike on the road ,thats why i'm on my 3rd one and patiently waiting for Mr Honda to bring out the new one ( I read and believe MCN ( cof cof ) I dont really care if i'm overtaken by anyone on whatever bike ,as long as i'm having fun.

I've seen lots of races on the road where one guy doesn't even know there is a race, or the first guy doesn't know when it is over.
