And here it goes again...
You see... That's just how it usually starts!
The next thing you know, she'll be coming home late from work with some lame assed excuse as to why. Then she'll get a tatoo or something saying it's for her and not you. She'll probably run the credit cards up and stop paying the bills. If you're one of those poor suckers who hand over your paycheck to her you need to pry that checkbook out of her hands now! Has she started a new job lately? She's probably already cheated on you and she's setting you up to make her move. Get the mail before she does. Hide any assets you can and get ready. There's a damn good possibility that she's about to jerk the rug out from under your life!
I hope I'm wrong damn it I really do! I've seen it happen over and over and I thought it would never happen to me. But there's a silver lining to this dark cloud. Being single after being shackled is GREAT! No doubt about it.
Had I known women were so easy to pick up I might not have endured all those dark years. Women are strange critters. I stopped trying to figure them out some time ago because even if you do, it doesn't matter.
There has to be some good women out there but how can you tell?
One thing I have learned is that if you're shopping for one over 40, all the good ones are already taken and the only ones left are defective.
Keep in mind that it's not your fault. It's hers! You didn't really do anything wrong... Except for getting married. |

This reminds me of the time I got a 1994 CR125 for about $125.00. I spent 10 hours cleaning it up and about $50.0 in small parts to make it rideable again. My wife came in the garage lamenting " I wish I was a broken down old motorcycle, maybe you would spend more time with me." I looked over at the BB, (Should be riding), looked at her and thought, Loose all that mid life blubber and I wouldn't be out here.
Just wait till she gets past 50. It gets worse.
By the way, I made $800.00 on the 125!

Got to admit i actually find riding the BB more exciting than riding the missus and it lasts longer as well ,doesn't moan afterward either. but i suppose after 20yrs together we both are a little jaded with each other, I'm not saying I'm not to blame as well but i found something i love to be out on which gives me loadsa pleasure and she hasn't, she needs a hobby or a toy boy ,offers with photo accepted .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never really had the problem myself. My wife like being on both of my bikes as well as on me. She doesn't like to shop either. I'm living the dream.

Mine can't get on my bird due to a back injury but she actually likes it and doesnt mind where I go and what I do which is a bonus in anyones language. Like another poster said, she knows where I am, who I'm with and where my money is going. My BB is the only vice I have so she doesnt mind.

Tough decision.........
I met my wife when I was alread riding a motorcycle. She didn't have any interest in them, and still doesn't, but she rides pillion with me if we are alone. She doesn/t like groups (espescially bikers), so when I ride with my mates she never comes along.....
She is also complaining about the little time we can spend together (after almost 20 years), and she is a little afraid that I (we) might get hurt in an accident. She always worries.....
Now I must confess I enjoy pushing the bike, and I've had my share of crashes. In 1986 I almost died, and in 1992 I've been recovering for 3 years after being hit by a car, thrashing my leg.....
Now I own my own shop in motorcycletires and accessories. She keeps on telling me that I can't afford to get hurt, because I am not insured for loss of income (only for medical bills). She is right, but I will not give up riding....
Ever since I met her we are together. After 3 weeks we lived together, and we are still together, even through the rough times. We love each other, but we do have our problems (like every other couple I know).
If it's still possible to communicate without ending up in a fight you can resolve about anything together if you both want to.... It just takes effort and time. Good luck!
And if any of you know a good editorial how to operate a wife, please let me know...

| Mines pretty good really as long as I keep up the life insurance payments she couldn’t give a rats, as for letting her on the back, I couldn’t treat my Blackbird like that.
My philosophy is you can always get a new wife, you may not be able to get another Blackbird.

Guess I'm lucky.Mine has a GSXR1000 so she fully understands,we're also both parts mgrs at different bike shops and she trying to start her own shop next year. And she thinks I need to think less about my bike!?At birthdays and Christmas all I want is stuff for my bike.So this year she gives in,buys me a tail bag and bike t-shirt but buys herself THE EXACT SAME THING.
I'll try to remember that at Christmas,"look honey tires for your bike and mine too!"

Mine said we are spending too much money so I'd need to cut back on the beer, so I did.
Then I found a big dollar reciept for makeup, being a smartass I said if I have to cut back on beer maybe you should cut the makeup.
She said but it's so I can look pretty for you.
I said that's what the beer was for.
She may not be coming back.

No matter how broke or tight things are women always manage to find the dough for their "treats"....."but it's all for you, baby!"
Not that we should begrudge it, just be aware of what percentage of that check to the grocery store or wally world is food!!

I built a custom pillion seat to fit the dear one on my ST1100. When we go out together wife always wants to go on the ST, car stays at home. She loves travelling by bike now, we tow a trailer with camper on it away as often as possible. She refuses to go on the Bird but dosen't mind if I go for a blast by myself, God bless her!

My wife is so consenting! When i told her last year that i am going back to bikes, she told me to up my personal insurance.
If i crash badly, don't come home, just lie there and let her claim the insurance. I agreed and she never complained after that.
I like her for what she is, so pragmatic!

The little lady even bought me saddle bags and a tank bag to match. Now I ask you, is that good, or really good? Man, I've got it made. I mightn't be rich, but I'm happy.

My wife and I, (before kids), used to meet friends at a pub in the city on thursday nights. We had a roughly 70km trip home afterwards though, mostly along the motorway. By the time we had been on the motorway 10mins, I could feel her helmet tapping mine whenever I had to slow for traffic a bit because she would get on and go to sleep!

Helvet, a bit of both, really. Motorway riding is generally pretty boring. The only excitement there is the sort you don't want. Like when the cagers change lanes to try & kill you. |

Lots of different responses on this subject, but I truly believe that the "motorcycle issue" is just the tip of the icebrg.
How often have women left us, then said, it's me, not you....or no, there is no one else, or I still love you, I just need some time to figure things out.........HA......BULLSHIT.
Any time you hear this, it is just a cover up. Of course it is you, of course there is someone else....she doesn't need time to "figure things out" she's just to chicken shit to tell you the truth.
No....I am not bitter, and no, this hasn't happened to me lately.( but it has happened) I am just trying to point out the fact that we as humans have this nasty habbit of trying to beat a dead horse to death. You and I (and our wives and girlfriends) know when it's time to move on, or move over, but we all insist on dragging this out to the very bitter end. How many times have you or someone you have know said "If I new now what I new then , I would have got out a long time ago" ? Sure, somethings can be fixed, but most things can't.
Is it just the bike or are there other underlying problems? Is the bike a scapegoat? Or is it just time to move on? Hmmmmmm
IE.
A very good friend of mine sold his bike when he first got married. he played the "good husband card" took care of his family, never partied or went anywhere without them. 15 years later, his children were grown, and he decided it was time to pick up where he left off. Last year he bought a Vstrom, he loved that bike....for a whole 3 weeks. She turned into such a bitch about it that he finaly sold it just to keep the peace.
Is that the end of the story. Nope, cause now he is pissed at her because of the whole bike thing. ( zero problems up to this point)
This whole situation has caused him to really take a good hard long look at what he really has. Is he getting another bike? probably... does he care what wifey has to say this time through ? no, not even a little bit. He is so bitter with her now that I think the end may be near for them.
I am lucky as my wife knows how much I love/need this sport. Lucky, to the point that she even picked out my new yellow 07 GSXR1000 2 weeks ago. Does she like bikes....no. Does she like riding on them....no.
But what she does do, is let me be me, as I do her.
The day she ever say's shit like that to me (the bike must go etc) I will know that it is time to move on, because she and I have gone as far as we are going to go together in this lifetime.
Not end rant, just simpley that is the way I see it.
Lou

Can't help you guys but reading this (and having partially experienced the wrath you're describing) I can't help but be happy I don't have a commander in chief anymore heh. I throw my money on what I want and ride where and for as long as I want. Just got back from a 3 week/8000kms trip and I know I could never have done that if I weren't single .
