The tank bra is a cover that goes on the gas tank to keep you from scratching it up when you slide up against it, or lean over it when tucked down.

They can have non-slip properties, as well. Some of the sport and stunt bike riders buy them for that purpose.

As for the poll, I have a Mag-Knight stick on bra, but it came with the bike when I bought it.
I've had to clean around it and under it a few times, and I wish it were taller in the middle section that comes up the back of the tank. I've scratched the tank above it with the zipper of my reflective vest.

I voted for the bra although from another point of view I was tempted to pick the go naked option since in other aspects of your life that generally leads to good things. I have since added a tank bra for better protection.
I recently ordered the tank slapper and am going to put that on for a while and see if I like it better then the bra.

I just listed a couple clear tank pads in the classifieds - nice and I have one one on my Bird. And it comes with 6 ovals to put on the sides of the tank, fairing, or wherever you desire.

The previous owner had one with lettering on it when I bought it but I wanted a clear one. It was on for a few years and it came off real easy and left no marks, etc. - I can see no reason why it cannot go on the paint.

I have just bought a Metzi tank cover ( Metzi Moto Skinz ) and an SW Motech tank bag that is mounted on a ring so the bag sits above the tank. Both work well together in my opinion.

My came with a Mag Knight or what ever. the looks to me suck. If I had a bike and the tank was in good shape I would go with tank slaper.

I did not know that you could buy a Metzi tank cover...thought he just made seat covers?

I still have the tank pads in the classifieds - cheap way to protect your tank.

He does a full tank cover with your choice of graphics as well as a full fairing cover. I am waiting on my tank cover at the moment. He does very good work. Cost is $149 AUD with grpahics included using Kabtex material.

Nice to have lots of options...I personally like to see my Silver tank albeit I added a tank protection pad and clear ovals where my knees/inside thighs touch (see pics in classifieds).

It covers the tank and protects it from scratches, etc., just like the Black ones on many cars. Or you can simply get a tank protection pad to cover the center area like I have on my bike (and an extra in the classifieds if you want one - pics also included).

I have the clear "stick on" tank protectors. They don't offer any grip, but I found out that I can't stay on a bike when it's cartwheeling anyway.

I recently ordered and have now received a bagster tank cover with matching tank bag. Hope to mount it tomorrow morning if I can wake up early enough.

Birdman,
What do you think of this one then ?? Its made by Metzi here in NSW. He can match any colour you like as far as I know. You can also pick your own graphics to go on the side of it or wherever you like on it. Cheers
