Only occassionally (1-2 week) and until I get more km's on it, it is only done with just enough throttle.

I'm kinda curious as to how they calculate "red line", and what kind of damage it does to your engine?

Kinda hard not to red line evry now and again in a couple of gears ,the map i run bounces off the rev limit at 12,000 so that is as far as i go. No harm yet if you dont count the speeding fines, and the MPG.

I haven't been to the track yet, and redlining a Blackbird on the street seems crazy to me. I love the 'bird's power; it has so much get up and go off the line that it's easy enough to get a ticket without getting close to redlining it. If I want to really twist the throttle on a bike, I'll ride my little Ninja 250. That's fun and I can actually do it for a reason. And I probably won't get a ticket, either.

Quite often. However, with the gas prices going up and up I'm doing it less and less, especially in commuting mode. More blasts to redline=fewer mpg.

Now, I wouldn't say that I redline her everytime I ride, but I deffinately redline her way more than I should.

Damn...! You guys sure ride a lot harder than I do!
I don't think I've ever redlined just going through the gears. And why the Hell would you want to anyway? Just to hear the noise?
Although I probably come close to it in 5th or 6th gear I'm not paying attention to engine rpm at that speed so I don't really know. But I'd have to say no, never. The damned thing damn near jerks your arms out of their sockets without going near redline so...
Is this one of those if-you-have-to-explain-I-won't-understand things?

For me its like this ,My car is a beast of burden 2,000 revs we do the posted max speed 5 people on board we are going from A>B hey but you can put the stereo on ?.Bike is whole other thing there is no stereo so yes you rev it a bit but in fith or sixth gear all you can hear is the wind as you push it out of your way cause youre coming through.my bike like i said will rev out to 12.000 and when I hear that sounds like a song to me Blackbird song. |

Very rarely do I get the chance. Let's face it, when you can go from your driveway to gaol without getting out of fist gear... (As quoted from some mag I remember reading)

I'm Frank from Germany - this is where all the XX are redlined all the time they're moved out on the street! But at fuel costs of 1,4 $ per Liter. I'm living near Stuttgart where all the Porsche and Daimler think they are fastest on the road... so my XX (bought in July 2007) is near redline almost every day. I need new tires every 2500 miles! |
