Only occassionally (1-2 week) and until I get more km's on it, it is only done with just enough throttle.

I'm kinda curious as to how they calculate "red line", and what kind of damage it does to your engine?

Kinda hard not to red line evry now and again in a couple of gears ,the map i run bounces off the rev limit at 12,000 so that is as far as i go. No harm yet if you dont count the speeding fines, and the MPG.

If I was to redline in third gear and the coppers catch me, I would be thrown in jail and have the bird impounded for life. I am exceeding all speed limits at 10,500 rpm in first gear (~118 kph)

Not more than once or twice per day, so the over-loaded components will heal nicely in between

I haven't been to the track yet, and redlining a Blackbird on the street seems crazy to me. I love the 'bird's power; it has so much get up and go off the line that it's easy enough to get a ticket without getting close to redlining it. If I want to really twist the throttle on a bike, I'll ride my little Ninja 250. That's fun and I can actually do it for a reason. And I probably won't get a ticket, either.

Quite often. However, with the gas prices going up and up I'm doing it less and less, especially in commuting mode. More blasts to redline=fewer mpg.

Now, I wouldn't say that I redline her everytime I ride, but I deffinately redline her way more than I should.

Not very often. It's so damm fast you don't need to. But every once in while, maybe in second gear, I just can't help myself.

Damn...! You guys sure ride a lot harder than I do!
I don't think I've ever redlined just going through the gears. And why the Hell would you want to anyway? Just to hear the noise?
Although I probably come close to it in 5th or 6th gear I'm not paying attention to engine rpm at that speed so I don't really know. But I'd have to say no, never. The damned thing damn near jerks your arms out of their sockets without going near redline so...
Is this one of those if-you-have-to-explain-I-won't-understand things?

Very rarely do I get the chance. Let's face it, when you can go from your driveway to gaol without getting out of fist gear... (As quoted from some mag I remember reading)

I'm Frank from Germany - this is where all the XX are redlined all the time they're moved out on the street! But at fuel costs of 1,4 $ per Liter. I'm living near Stuttgart where all the Porsche and Daimler think they are fastest on the road... so my XX (bought in July 2007) is near redline almost every day. I need new tires every 2500 miles!
