Hey folks,

So - I thought perhaps that it might be interesting to see the variety of places we end up with our bikes, something to share the pleasure of a good day's ride...

Post a picture that gives a taste of your day's riding, sun or rain, daily trudge to work or glorious Saturday spin in the sunshine without a care in the world, pretty, ugly, fantastic, disastrous, adventurous, challenging, ridiculous, let's see it!

Caption it or not, up to you, but share a little piece of your day with your fellow riders!

Last weekend. 700km round trip ride from Canberra with Saturday night camping in Sofala. Huge variation in countryside from winding mountain passes to wide open plains. Great way to spend a weekend.

Today, a short 300km ride to Burrinjuck Dam. Very dry in the NSW southern tablelands at the moment, they could really do with some rain. Approx 30km was on gravel today. About 20km along that dirt I came across a guy who is walking 500km, alone, for the shear joy of it. Nice guy, but nuts. Heres a photo of the dam. You can see how low the water is compared to high water mark on the far bank ...

Tumut to Bondi is a good ride as well, We did it last weekend

We did a Yuie at the dirt and came back to Tumut, No one was keen to ride on the dirt,
First time I ever seen the brumbies up there too, Some near Thredbo and some on the way back to tumbarumba,
My Bird hates the dirt, Both wheels roll under me, Very unnerving,

Short (400 km) ride to Young, cherry capital of Australia (but not this time of year). Used to be called Lambing Flats in the 1860s gold rush era, but the local white miners decided to kill a few chinese, so to cover the whole thing up the government changed the name of the town to Young hoping no-one would notice it was them. Very pretty ride none the less, and at least they acknowledge it today with a memorial garden. Met a guy from Chile in Boorowa who is travelling Australia, and used to own a silver 1997 Bird. Then saw a silver FI Bird in Young half an hour later. Spooky. (I very rarely see other Birds on my travels). On the way back into Canberra I saw a police investigation team measuring out an accident scene where a yellow suzuki of some type had T-boned a rock wall on the Brindabella Road near Cotter Dam - anyone who rides near Canberra will know of it, twisty and fun (unless you T-bone a rock wall). Also met some curious cows. Overall, an interesting day.

650 Kay ride to Paynesville in East Gippsland with the tent and new G/F to she how she travelled on a bike, ,
She got sunstroke on the way down on Sat, So I put her on the train back to Melbourne on the Sunday Arvo from Bairnesdale,
She was crook as a dog, We both ate the same food and drinks, so It wasnt food poisoning,
First time on a bike for 40 years, She used to own her own Guzzi, Great pillion, The speed was scary for her, Hey, I am allowed to do the speed limit, Hahahaha
She will get used to it after a few more rides on the Bird,

Tried out my new go pro as well, $36-00 AUD with free delivery and all the accessories with it, Works great, Great video's,
A piccy of my elcheapo chinese wavy rear disk with about 40,000 kays on it, Its was $45-00 with free delivery,
No rust, Had no problems with it,
Rear tyre had a plug in it for a puncture and gave me no problems,
Pulled up on a closed weigh bridge on the way home, to put my jumper on as it was a bit nippy just in my T shirt,
The Gauge was working, So I pushed the bike back onto the bridge, The Bird weighs 280 Kgs loaded and 360 Kgs with me on it,
No bloody wonder it was top heavy, Hahahaha
Coming thru the hills at night almost home, It bucketted down and I got drowned, Ten minutes from home,
I would have got drowned unpacking my bag to get the wets out as they were in the bottom of the bag, Any way,
Came home on the slab, M1 Freeway, 300 kays of almost dead straight road, I hate that bloody road,
But at night and rain coming, I decided to give the twistys a miss,
The piccys are looking across the start of the Gippsland Lakes at Paynesville,

Today I discovered the worst road in the world. It runs through Wombeyan Caves in NSW, east towards the Hume Hwy. It is around 70 kms of the most evil dirt ever labelled as "a road". The views are tremendous, but who has time to look at views when every metre there is another brick sized rock hiding in a shadow, or corrugations that make your teeth chatter. 2+ hours to traverse it. I cant imagine any circumstance in/on any vehicle where this road would be enjoyable. Avoid at all costs! But the rest of the ride was brilliant. Glorious autumn day.
