Yeah, I remember seeing that photo a few months back and it was associated with an article saying that Honda scrapped the "new" Blackbird because they felt it wouldn't be competitive.

I think this is a photo shop/chop picture that has been floating around for a while.
Big Red does have some interesting 08 models in the pipeline, if MCN can be believed.

| Heres what Honda UK say about it Dear Mr Spicer, Thank you for contacting Honda. At present, we do not have any details on a 2008 Blackbird being released in the UK. We would advise you to keep an eye on the motoring press, and any information that will come from the Bike Show, held at the end of November at the Birmingham NEC, as this is where the new Honda range will be announced. If you have any further questions or feedback please complete our feedback form @ www.honda.co.uk or call our Honda Contact Centre on 0845 200 8000. Kind regards Doug Honda UK Contact Centre http://webmail.ntlworld.com/agent/mo...wA3AH0AAQB4AHw

If a new Bird was hatched for N.A. with just new colours, would you sell your present Bird for a new one? Count me out.

I think if a new bird was available in N.A. and something happened to my bike, I would get the new bird. I still like the Honda motor and design thoughts.

What I meant is I have finally built up my Bird to the bike Honda should have built. Penske rear, Olhins front springs, pre-load adjusters, the list is long. So I'm not interrested in cosmetic changes. I'll be retiring soon so a new bike isn't in the picture and my Bird is Awsome! I'm in for the long run on this baby. Got a couple of daughters I'm slowly marring off, so the dosh has been spoken for. Love my Bird.

I thought only the 01 was red or does that only pertain to the US ?
It seems to me, you have what some of us want/need. Have you listed in detail the mods done to your BB.
If not, I am interested for ideas and would love to see some pics . Of your Bird of course.

Thanks, yes, it's an '02 metalic, cherry red. That year it was silver or cherry and silver is too much a common car colour so I chose the cherry. I know I owe some pics to the forum. Here's the mods,
Corbin GF Lady
Heli Bars
PC 111
Two Bros Tit Slip ons
Full Givi, two sides and a top with a back rest and the brake lite hard wire in
Penske fully adj remote
Pre-load adjuster/front spring, 100mm over
Rear Hugger
Full Goodridge steel braided lines; brakes, front/rear, and clutch line
9500i on a stem mount from techmont.com hard wired to the bike.
118,000 kms of touring
Frame plugs from Jaws
Steble Magnum, ordered and now in the mail. Get rid of the wimpy oem horn.
K&N air filter
I think that's it. Others have moded their rides much more than I. Such as a Busa front forks, gold valves in front, etc.
For me, at my age, and my style of riding, it's perfect.
However, I was a the MC races last week and I'm taking it to a suspension expert, b/c I don't think it's quite dialed in for me yet.
I've had her since new, and over-maintain the bike. Avon Storms at the moment, Motex hydrolic fluid, 5.1, Motul coolant and Semi Syn. EBC HH pads
I don't ride in the winter, Nov-Feb/March so that milage is 5 years minus 20 months or so. No more commuting. This July&August, 10,000+ kms.
Cheers

Honda rep at the Brisbane (Australia)Motorcycle show last week said that there would a new Blackbird in early 09. 1500cc.. In the interim as the last Blackbirds have been imported into aust, There may be a factory turbo, They had one fitted at the show. This is only what the rep said to me so not gospel. It is the first time anyone has admitted that here is a new bird coming, Lets hope it is as good as the current bird, Honda have updated there personal watercraft machines with a turbo and I seem to think they will use the same turbo for the bird.. Who knows.....

I just have to see it before I am even considering an update for the BB. This is the opposite of what I hear from Honda Europe.....
Also, Honda will NEVER fit the BB with a turbo, is has the opposite function of ride-ability Honda is so proud of withtheir motorbikes.

Only repeating what the rep said, They actually had BB with a turbo on display, although not factory. Honda's new watercraft now have factory fitted turbos, so the motor is there.. But like I said,, who knows, hopefully whatever they bring out it will be as good as the current BB. I am holding on to mine. Cheers
