I have ,for me anyway, the best way to add heated grips.
My hands are large and standard grips cramp my hands so I add bicycle cork tape to my grips and wrap it to fit my hand. Add heat strips right over the grips first, wrap with the bike tape, wire, and it works better than putting the heat strips under the grips where they lose a lot of heat to the bars. Cold weather electrical tape finishes off the wrapped end.

Far out you must have really big hands ( an indication you are popular with the girls perhaps ). I have heated grips on my bike and they are a lot thicker than the original grips. Also highly recommend Throtlemeisters ( got mine shipped out from the states ) there very good.

how hot do the store bought ones get? i have been making my own for several years but i never figured how to make them look nice but i ride when it's in the teens sometimes and at 80 mph the wind chill gets a little serious. the ones i make get so hot you cant touch the grip but for about 1 second bare handed and you are done..i say maybe 250 degrees.
i have gloves i put together with hot glue....basic thin deerskin gloves with thinsulate ski gloves with the palms cut out so just the part of my hand that is on the bar is thin leather..the rest is insulated...and a pair of extra long gauntlets cut off a pair of welding gloves hot glued the ski gloves...they don't look as bad as it sounds and my hands do not get cold...but a couple times when i put my hot grips on i had forgot what the resistance was that worked ..they got pretty warm but not enough..in case anybody wants to try to make there own its cheap and easy..radio shack has spools of insulated wire..for like winding electric motors...takes about half a roll of either of the two thin sizes our store has and i think it was 42 ohms of resistance per side however much wire that takes ...i usualy wrap the grip with friction tape cause it handles the heat without melting enough wire wrapped around neatly without overlaping and if ya have to start back the other way..more friction tape i usualy hang a 5 amp fuse at the battery and a 14 gauge wire to a switch and then to the bars..usual pulls 3 amp ..i usualy hot glue..the high temp stuff ...leather over the outside of the wires..the fatter grips seem to help circulation in my hands too..i can't ride without them my hands get cold i am a crybaby cause they hurt like hell when they warm up..like sombody been hammering on my fingernails
and come springtime i just cut them off..its like a buck for a roll of friction tape and the wire is 4 bucks and about the secon time ya do them it takes less than an hour...but they dont work well on bikes that has alternator on the end of the crank..not enough output..but my gpz 900 same alternator that comes on new triumps rocks 13.2 volts at 1100 rpm and 13.8 with grips and 130 watt headlamp bulb at 1500 rpm

Taetor, Do you have heated gloves? Which brand/Model. I'm considering the gerbings.
