Im working on machining some custom frame plugs...
"working" being the key word.
I would like to see what everyone has done with thiers. Wether its black plugs or something fancier.
My idea would be to have my custom plugs milled to mirror the fairing bolts style.
Post up!

Go on then seeing as I've made hundreds of them
You want them fixing with O rings first of all, it's no good RTV siliconing them or "hammering" an interference fit one in, you gouge the frame paint getting them out.
Also in brass/gold
Made one set only of the 6 hole sig ones, sadly the owner, an IXXRA member got the big C shortly afterwards and passed away, I've not made anymore since.
There are variations in the hole sizes from frame to frame and all four are different anyway. I make them so they will fit all with just a packing of the O ring if necessary.
Anyone wants the measurements to have a go themselves just PM me.

Redd -
I have a set of frame plugs that exactly mimic the large dimpled bodywork fasteners that come on the bike from the factory. They arrived with a polished aluminum finish, which I didn't like against the black frame.
So I powder-coated them a sedate 90% gloss black. They look awesome on the bike now!
I'll shoot a couple of digital photos of them tonight, and post up....

Anna,
I bought some inexpensive plugs from Kiwimack and had them powdercoated to match the flat black of the frame. Here's a snap shot of the right side.

these are great! Thanks! I would love to see your plugs too Dale.
So the general oppinion is that they look better when they match the frame. I saw some polished aluminum ones on a black frame that I though looked nice...but they were more ornate.
Bezzer...those look great!!!

I have a set of the polished dimpled frame plugs and while I like them, they were kind of a bitch to install. The O ring idea looks nice. I ended up using Hondabond to install mine. Got em from "Sandman" off of .org.

And here are those "Sandman" dimpled frame plugs, powder-coated a nice 90% gloss black!
(And, yes, the bike just came off a looooong, hard Endurance Rally in the Desert West, I know it's pig-dirty, thank you... that's why dust has collected on the ridge of the frame plug.... Night Train is currently down for maintenance; Ill clean it afterwards... |

Funny, I was just looking at the hole last night and thinking that it was ugly and needs something.
I love warchilds one, it matched a little better than the others.
Now to machine one up

Bingo! Just as I though...Dales is EXACTLY the ones I planned on machining. The angle..the dimples..the whole shape is what Im going for.
It should be a fairly painless operation.
The plan was to go with aluminum and have it anondized clear. But..the thought of powdercoating is quite appealing as well.
I will keep you updated on what I can come up with and if I am able to make a bunch of them.
Thanks!!!
