I had a '98 with K&N airfilter, Yoshi slip ons, and 6 degree ignition advance, that I ran on 96RON. As I recall, it was dynoed at 122kW and 123NM, but had 120NM from about 3k to 10k RPM.
I believe it was run in 4th gear on a Dynodynamics machine.
I basically made the changes to get rid of the big dip in the power/torque curves. At this I was successfull. Hope this helps a bit.

Neither the K/N-filter or dynojet kit is needed to use the full power potential of a full 4-2-1 system. The tuning is preferably done by changing the main jets and by raising the needles with shims (washers). The full system will add 5 to 10 horsepower. The dyno jet kit and K/N filter will not give you any extra hp. The K/N filter comes to its right if more mods are done but the bird is known to run best with a stock filter. You may even loose slightly in power with the K/N and the throttle response will not be as good as with the stock filter.
The full system will provide a solid power increase and better throttle response when correctly tuned. In my opinion, the dynojet kit and K/N filter is a total waste of money on the bird.
The 122 kW figure above (164 hp) is either the power on the crankshaft, or a dyno error.

Yeah, I had my '97 dyno'd (stick) and it pulled 139 but the dyno was running a bit high that day so 135 sounds about right.

Maybe all you were in need of was a good tuning???

This is from the Honda website
Max. Power Output 150 bhp at 9,500 rpm
I think the 164/150 you see in the spec is at the crank not the back wheel.
A lot of advertising bumff say that cos it looks good !!

You lose a lot of power between the crank output and the back wheel, go to go through the gearbox, final drive chain, etc so it always loses it.
In the UK here, on the BIRD webside, there are a lot of discussions regarding Dyno Outputs and doesn't really matter what year of bike, the max power seen at the back wheel is about 145 bhp, its only when the cams and head are worked on can you get any higher, at the back wheel, where it matters.
Hope that helps.

Youre on the wrong Forum for that question m8 !!
Blackbirds are in our blood and I have never found another bike comes anywhere near what the Blackbird can do, but thats just my opinion !!
