| Tis a sad, sad day!
To all that has helped me with my F4 and suggestions for my blackbird........ The blackbird is no more. I was going around a curve about 45 mph, a deer ran out in front of me and I was on peat gravel on the inside of the curve and hi-sided the bike trying to avoid hitting the deer. The bike flipped end over end a few times according to what the riders behind me said. I flew off when it hi-sided and scraped along the pavement. THANK GOD FOR HELMETS AND LEATHERS! I was in full gear that day, due to it being kind of chilly and we were going down roads I've only ridden down a few times. The blackbird is totaled.......... I'm very sore, nothing broken. The only thing I got was leather burn on my arm where my jacket rubbed against my arm and huge urge of wanting hunting season to begin at that moment! I was and am still pissed. This happen last weekend. So again thanks to everyone, will be shopping for another one soon. May wait for awhile though..... I will see how things go...................

Very happy to hear you are OK. Gear is GOOD! My motto: all the gear, all the time. For an endo, your 'bird doesn't look too bad. Is the frame bent? Perhaps it can be rebuilt? -Keith | |

| Re: Tis a sad, sad day! The frame and the forks are tweaked a little bit, probably enough not to be able to rebuild it. I would part the bike out, but the buy back from the insurance company is $1700, sooooo It will be totaled and the insurance company will take the bike, unfortunately........

Sorry to hear that you have become another Michigan forest vermin casualty. You sound like you have an amazing penchant for quick recovery, both physical and emotional........with an acerbic sence of humor to boot! We certainly hope that you will consider another XX to replace your broken mount (when the time is right, naturally).

As far as another bird...... depends on the insurance company and time right now.... most likely will get another, just a matter of timing!

I know how you're feeling about now. July seems to be a bad month for 'Bird/beast encounters. Glad that you're in one piece, and good luck in your quest for a new ride.

Very sorry to hear of your misfortune but glad you are OK. +1 on Keith's (NorCalXX) motto: all the gear, all the time. As a recent accident survivor, I can attest to it. Too bad the deer got away!! Hope you're able to get back on a 'bird in the future.

Congrats on your good fortune.....you are a survivor! I experienced loose gravel in a tight turn and a round the corner, in my face deer sighting in my last outing on my bird as well. Thankfully not at the same time or in the same curve. ![]() Shit happens. Good luck on your quest for a new ride! Jim

Glad to hear you're OK. That really sucks about the bird though. Hope you can find another quickly. If you're interested, There was a '99 for sale close to Fort Wayne. I can get more details if you like.

The Bird can be replaced, glad you're OK. On a lighter note, let's swap seats before your insurance Co. takes her

I took everything off her and put the stock stuff back on already. However I will be keeping all the aftermarket in hopes that it will fit the next one. No since in me spending the money twice.

I have been riding, I have a Kawasaki Ninja 500 I use to commute with back and forth to work. So its not like I don't have something to ride. Its definitely NOT a bird though. We will see, let me know the information on the bird and I will let you know! Thanks!

Wow, glad to hear you're o.k. A good day riding is when you can walk away from it. A great day is when the bike makes it too. I don't know who said that, but it's got the ring of truth to it. Good luck finding another 'bird and take care.

As the above have said. You come first, the bike much, much, later. This is the day after, I hope you are not hurting too much today. I hope you heal fast, and find another bike of your dreams. |
