I never really paid attention before, but I rode with my friend last weekend who has a K1200s and he snapped a picture that really made me notice the styling similarities between the XX and the K1200s. The headlight especially has a very similar shape. Well, I couldn't think of a better bike to base their design on

I remember reading somewhere (a long time ago) that BMW admitted that their target for the K-bike was the Blackbird. Had it been the Eye-abuser then there would be another fugly bike on the market.

don't get me wrong.. really nice bike and all. but I rode it and walked away liking my XX more. I definately couldn't see spending the dough on one of those when I have a really nice XX all paid for! Beautiful bike though, i really think it's very nice- it just didn't blow me away.

It was either Cycle World or Motorcyclist where they interviewed BMW's Project Manager for the K1200S. It was a great tribute to the Blackbird!

What do you all think of the K1200 when, eventually, all of our Birds are... sniff sniff... no more? As much as I'd like to think Honda will bring them back, I'm not holding my breathe. So, in like a decade... or two, we might have to choose...

I'm one of the 1 percenters, over 65 in the age poll, so I'm not too worried about what happens in 10 years.

I'll be 62 in a couple of months and expect my '03 Bird to outlast me!

I never thought of that. Or is it I thought of it and just can't remember it?

I did a 200 mile test ride on a K1200S a couple of years ago and was very impressed, but it was my first ride on a litre+ machine. I got back to the dealer and he was really upset with me when I said I couldn't afford it. Now I have an o4 Bird I am sure it will see me out (63 this month)

I went looking for a K1200S and decided the bird was the better bike. Still, they sure look alike.

They are similar until you need maintenance and servicing.
My uncle's 30,000 klms service here in Brisbane cost $1130.00 AUD
