I have a '99 bird (blue) Bought it at the end of last year after my cbr600 got written off by a car. It had 19500kms on it at the time and I got it for $9500. All the others I looked at were around the same price for '99 '00 models but had 50000kms on them plus mine is super clean. Could'nt belive my luck.

Hi all
thank you to all of you for a fabulous forum full of great information.
I just recently bought a 1997 blackbird.
I have to say, it is one of the classic motorcylcles of this era.
I bought it at the end of the local motorcycle season. it is now going down to 5-8 degrees celsius (42-46f)
I am in the midst of a fabulous midlife crisis, full of beautiful women (ok so they are 10 dollars a dance ) fast motorcycles, and lots of booze ( I don't mix the booze with the motorcycles, but they do make the women look better)
Seriously, I have had my eye on this bird for the last few months, drove 150k to see it in august, and then made an offer and bought it last week.
what is good about this site is that the things I am thinking of doing someone else has already done , and related their experience, and this gives me a better idea of whether to do it or not.
anyway like my son says,
"c'est pas mal le coolness"
mnet

Congratulations on the new to you Bird. Even though you mention the temperatures are now a little cool---you are going to ride the Bird a few times --aren't you?
They are great bikes---wishing you many happy trails---kel

I think I still have a few miles to put on the bike before it gets really cold.
it is only like 45f/8c now.
Thanks for the welcome.

Another '97 here - fantastic bike, I love it
Full Yoshi exhaust, trimmed rear fender/shortened rear turn signals, frame plugs, custom chainguard, otherwise it is pretty stock.
More mods on the way - bagster tank cover, farkles on order from Jaws right now
Going to get a hugger and double bubble soon too
Gary

You new Bird owners didn't mention how many miles on your 97's and 98---lets hear it. Congratulations by the way.
My 97 has 48+ now and other than regular chain/tires/lube/brake stuff has had the R/R problem a lot of guys have had, one cam chain tensioner and vacuum line to open petcock. This time I'm going to use the genuine Honda stuff as it is an oddball size 3.5 mm. Worth paying the few bucks more to get the right stuff---cause I had being stranded.
They are great bikes---enjoy and have many happy trails kel

Okay i have just ordered a black 06!! as this is all that is left in WA at honda shop.
They have 15 and that is it no more birds.
The dealer told me that they didn't bring the Bird out in 07
yet a few of my oz compatriots have stated 07 birds
Now someone is not telling me the truth
can someone enlighten me if there ever was such a thing as 07 bird and if so why has honda shop got 15x 06s and that's it. No so called 07 whatsoever. |

What years where the Blackbirds in the states. I am getting ready to purchase a 2000. It seems like the newest I have seen are 02s or 03s. When did they quit issuing them in US?
