Well,
For 5 years or better I have been parking my bikes out of the weather at work in an enclosed front walk. Well, it finally happened. Some yahoo on an electric riding jack took out my bike and caused $1400.00 in damage just in parts. Hopefully the company that the guy works for is good for the repairs, because I am sure with labor that the cost will rise over $2000.00.
I say this because after my get off a couple of years ago the insurance company wanted to cancel my policy as well as increase our rates ( luckily neither happened), but I am sure if I have to claim this through them it will send them over the top.
At this point I am not sure if I want to ride the bike home since the clutch lever looks like a horseshoe, the upper fairing is cracked just above the left mirror, both lower cowls are scraped as well as the passenger grag rail. I know that this is mostly cosmetic, but I do not want to take a chance on burning the clutch up if for some reason the damage to the lever causes the clutch to not be engaged fully.
Oh, well if I did not have BAD luck I guess I would have no luck at all. Here are some pics of the incident, not neccessarily in the correct order but no pun intended you can get the picture of what happened.

Sorry to hear this.
I had the same experience at work 3 yrs. ago. A co-worker decided to park in a parking spot that was already occupied by me.

Sorry to hear about your situation, Kevin. Just looking at the pictures, what was the guy's excuse for hitting your bike? It looks to me like he had plenty of room to get past your bike without hitting it.

I use to park mine inside thinking I was saving it from the elements. The more I looked at the forklift running around the more I wondered what was worse.
It's outside now with a Nelson cover on it!

BASTARD! Looks like he was totally surprised that it fell over, even though he seemed to be running the pallet jack right alongside it.
He or his company has to step up and cover all damages, no question.
That blind moron needs to be taken off any motorized machinery and demoted to toilet scrubber.
WOW, I'm surprised how pissed this has made me. But it's a good heads-up for those of us who park at work.
Wish I had some spares to shoot your way brother.
Take care, Glen.

Now I have never thought about it but what a great idea you have. Carrying around a such a great theft protection device like that just to watch over your bike...."Outstanding"
Yeh and it sucks about what happened as well

I thought about parking my bike inside the plant but the way these guys drive the forklift around here it's just a matter of time until it gets wiped out.
So I put an alarm on it and it gets parked outside. Next to the cages. Where it's safe. Sorry Dragonslayer... that really sucks. And the timing couldn't be worse.
I'm not a violent person, But after seeing those pictures, I dunno...
I'd want to make sure the guy didn't get any enjoyment out of it.

Sorry about the damage, that sucks. The video camera is your friend (for now). Quote:

It's unreal! I also park near the front of the parking spot for the same reason. You definately learn a few tricks when you've been riding for a while. I came out of a conveinence store once to find a woman sitting her toddler on my bike. It's gotten to the point where I won't take the bike anywhere I have to leave it. But all that's not so bad really. What's bad, and what really scares me is all the people talking on cell phones and even text messaging while driving for crying out loud! IMO most people's driving skills are piss-poor at best when they're devoting their full attention! And honestly, I hope I'm wrong but I think it's only going to get worse. Lately, I've been considering giving it up, y'know... quit riding. I wonder how many others are thinking that also.

I don't ride to work/school any longer. The kids don't touch my bike, they love to look at it, but it's the cages on the way home. I used to leave before 7 a.m. so getting there's no problem. But there's too much road constuction, new subway system, so I only ride on the weekends now. I leave 6 0r 7 a.m. ride for a few hours then home to hang with my wife. I used to ride to school as often as possible but the city gets more dangerous for riders every year. My opinion anyway. BTW, one of my grade 10's just got his L and Novice licence prior to a car licence. His dad rides and the kid just bought a new R6. Even most of the grade 12's don't drive let alone ride. My "hall pass" is a photo of the leaned over silver bird in the adds. I had about as much ignorant experience with drivers and cages in petro stations as mentioned above, let alone the idiots who like to talk on their cells, do make up, read and just about every thing else except concentrate on driving. Good on you for reviewing the video. Hard not to give the guy a decent cuff on the side of the head.

That totally sucks!!!!! I wonder tho if you will get handed an ass full of flak because "you didnt park in a designated" vehicular parking spot??? Think about it and be prepared for it.
Hope your bike gets fixed.

Hey that dude needs his pallet jack license revoked...what a horrible driver.
Was it on the center stand? It kind of looks like it...he might of cleared it if it where on the side stand form the look of the pics..
Nice thing is that you have him dead to rights with those pics.

Well,
I guess I have let this go on long enough. I was pleasantly surprised that I did not get any flak on the claim and they issued a check for $2800.00 to repair the bike. I was also lucky that I have a GOOD buddy at the dealership that works with me on these problems and allowed me to purchase the parts from Ron Ayres and I was able to save roughly $800.00 on the total repair bill.
Picked the bike up today. and she looks like new!!!!!!!

Dragonslayer, hey man I just recently had some damage to my bike, but I looked at the OEM prices and thought what a rip off, because there is a company out there called KneeDraggers.com - Sportbike Parts, Accessories, and Apparel and they offer aftermarket body parts that are alot stronger than stock.
