I for one am very happy with my Blackbird and I don't seriously consider trading up for a ________, or whatever..
Adding another bike though I am definately for
IMO Honda can do what they want I see myself satisfied for the near future with what I have.
Oh and props to whomever is responsible for putting together a site dedicated to maybe the best bike thats ever been built.
This bike is worth it's own site and not sharing/watering it down. |

this site rocks, and the emoticons are awesome.

Nope, I plan to keep this one too. I made the mistake of selling my 2002, and missed it, so after a few other bikes in between I found this leftover crated 2003 last year.
I'm keeping it unless a new XX comes out, then I may consider switching out. Otherwise, I'll only add-on in the future. (ST1300 maybe.)

As you can tell, I'm all for multiple bikes and when I bought my bird I was not absolutely sure it would be the right Long Distance bike for me. After the first ride and feeling the smoothness and rheostat like power I was hooked.
Thanks to Dale it is now a pretty venerable rally bike and even as I add others, everytime I take that bike out I just smile ear to ear.
My big fear is while I put about 20K a year on the bike when I need a new one in a few years there will be none available in the USA.

I sold my 02 and got 05 Hayabusa. I miss the XX for one reason you just see any around where I live. Many busas around, although I do not miss riding in city traffic on the XX. I will run across another XX sooner or later.

I am staying put with my 03 (purchased new in 05), I love it to death. Can't imagine owning anything else.
Boyfriends keeps trying to talk me into a new FJR, I keep insisting NOPE...not going there! If I want to ride one, I can just take his out for a spin. My youngest son has a cbr600 I can also ride that when I wish, it is like a toy after riding the BB...but still, I prefer mine over either.
I only put about 20,000 k on a year so I am good for awhile.
I am guessing here that the BB will go down as one of Hondas best bikes ever built. JMHO.
If I were to purchase another bike besides the BB, it would be a street/offroad type bike. I have found not riding in the woods at a good clip has lessened my reaction time on the road....it keeps ya on your toes making decisions in an instant.

I'll keep the 02 until it just won't run any more.
Not sure what I want to do with the 97. Wouldn't mind selling it and seeing if I could pick up a 954 or a 1000rr used. I've also thought about a nice 600 for a track bike. But any way you look at it, I'm not in a rush to do anything.

Someone let me in the back door. I think I'm in heaven.
I don't plan to sell my 'Bird in the foreseable future. I'd love to upgrade the suspension and brakes, but that's about it. It makes me grin every time I get on it.

I'm a bit superstitious. Talking about heaven and riding my bike. Dunno. Risky business, that. I'm in no hurry to test my key on the Pearly Gates. Still, I'm never happier than when I'm on my bike and I'd like to think Heaven is like that.

| Since the title on mine now says “Rebuilt/Repaired” or something like that I’ll have to keep it until it blows up or I kill it for real. It’s worth less than my opinion now. But I still love her

Rebuilt/repaired? Can you get a regular title for it?

It was and Insurance Company Total Loss so the title needs to say something to warn all the people I’d try and screw over when I sell it.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall at that sale. Try not to get all twitchy in the eyes while your lieing. That's always a dead give away. Plus the nervous jimmy leg.

I WAS kidding about trying to sell it as non salvaged. I'd never screw over a fellow rider. I'd screw over just about anyone else though.

Nope, you're not in the minority. I love my '00 XX. But I'm seriously considering adding a wrecked/salvage 600cc track bike to the garage. I'd use the XX for long trips and the 600cc for track days or play time in the VA/WV mountains.
Also I'd like to pick up a salvage XX and sell my minty 00 XX. Then I'd still have an XX and come out a $1000 or so ahead.

After many different Hondas over the years, I reckon this one suits me better than most of them.
However, I do seem to be in the minority on here, as I couldn't afford a second bike, of any condition. Finding it tough to afford to run the Blackbird and a car, yes, just one car as well. Working part time has it's advantages though, 13 weeks off every year |

The BB was the biggest selling sports tourer of 2005 here in Oz. OK, our sales figures are tiny when compared to America and Europe, but it's gotta speak volumes for the quality of this bike. More than 10 years on, and it's still outselling much newer offerings from Japan and Europe. Even the busa cops a hiding from the bird in Oz - in sales figures at least.
Mine's a keeper too.

| I've wanted a BB ever since I first laid eyes on one. I had a '95 GPz at the time and the wife said if I get another bike she's gonna leave. That was in 2001. And after a nasty divorce in which I had to pay her and all the other bills off, last year I bought a new crated 03. I knew it would be a good bike but I had no idea how good it really was. I've only got about 5500 miles on it due to my work schedule and the weather but I really like this bike and I'm constantly amazed every time I ride it. Often times after I park it and I'm walking away, I almost always find myself looking back at it and thinking to myself Daaaamn... What a ride! Must be love. I'll probably pick up another bike or two but I'll keep this one. I keep it garaged, well oiled and ready to go at a moments notice. And y'know... I was just thinking the other day that this bike just might outlive me. If I'm lucky. God I hope so. |

Damn, I just got my XX modified to where I actually like it now, now way I'm selling.
I just wish Honda had a BMW R1200GS type bike available here in the States. Even an Africa Twin would be a great option. |

Ummmmm. Crated XX. Good stuff. Now throw the Byrdman's mods in, and wal-ah! a bike that should give the most descriminating riders something to talk about. I haven't owned a more suitable bike, and like I said in another thread, it's nice having something I know I'll never be good enough to outride. I figure with Honda reliablility, I'll be ready to retire before the bike will.

I ride mine in Sydney City traffic and hardly have problems.
You'd me suprised in how small the gaps I can get through!

kicked on. Other than that no problems with the Bird.
