What have you done to your bird lately?

I've seen these threads on other sites and have decided to blatantly rip them off.

I will start:

Tore the rear shock out to take to my local suspension guru to use as a baseline in the rebuild of my 'blade shock. Pulled all the plastics to find a spot for the shock reservoir, change the R/R to a mosfet unit, and do a bunch of stuff up front. Changed the upper fairing stay as the old one had a slight tweak (anyone who wants the old one can have it for shipping $), fabbed up a bracket and installed my Stebel Nautilus (thanks Twisted Throttle for the on-line install guide, it saved me a bunch of noodling to find an appropriate mounting point), tidied up the gaggle of wiring, relays and circuit breakers I have stuffed behind the gauge cluster, and (finally) installed my indiglo XX tach face. Forks are coming off and new springs and gold valves will go in when they arrive.

Thoughts:

The stock horn is anemic and pointless. My twin Fiamms were LOUD. The Nautilus is GAWDAWFUL LOUD. I love it.

The tach face overlay required a wire be run out the back of the cluster which was made easier by releasing the actuator motor from the PCB. I did this without paying close attention to the motor's orientation and had a 50/50
chance of putting it back in the right way. Reassembled and test fired. Tach now runs backwards. Aargh. Man card revoked. IQ downgraded to "sometimes remembers to breathe without reminding and doesn't drool on self. Much".

So what have YOU done to your bird lately?

HAhahahahahahahahahahaHa! :)
Love you too man!

Ok to get back in the spirit of the thread, today I took a long hard look at the bird and decided to give it a wash.
Then I got a call and had to pop out and ended up just taking the bike out of the garage, to proceed to put it back in the garage..
Maybe tomorrow then!

I rode her 600kms and put her away wet. But my conscious bothered me so I washed and spray waxed her. I then decided it might be a good idea to ride my other bird:)

Tuesday rode it 120 miles in the rain.
Filled it with fuel.

Wednesday rode it 120 miles in the rain.
Filled it with fuel.

Thursday rode it 146 miles only 60 of those in the rain.
Filled it with fuel.

Friday rode it 120 miles only 30 of those in the rain.
Filled it with fuel.
Washed it.

Saturday
Cleaned and lubed the chain.
Checked tyres.
Checked oil level.
Checked coolant level.
Checked brake and clutch fluid levels.
Checked pad wear all round.
Checked all bulbs.
Checked for anything falling off.
Polished the silencers.
Polished the tank.
Polished the nose cone.
Polished the screen and dash.

Now following vigerous rubbing of the crystal ball I predict very similar for next week with the addition of Monday rode it 120 miles in the rain. Filled it with fuel.

Great weather for Ducks :smilebig:

I take it the rain is still flooding the bejeesus out of everything over there?
officially I live in a drought warning area, one step away from being banned from washing the bike! I must just have my own personal rain cloud that follows me everywhere :smilebig:

Ordered more parts today. New right and left lower (under cowl) insulation foams today. The location holes in the foam insulation that mount to the frame at the top location bosses have both seen better days (the foam is dry and the backing is cracked)..so new is in the works. Got the rear tail cowl and related hardbag hardware re-installed on Sat. just past. Center chin cowl and both lower cowl sides to go and then it's insurance and a test ride with the new wheels. Have put off the HID install for now.

Put heated grips on over the winter=best bang for bucks $35 USD and a few hours install. That and heated under jacket adds a month either side of summer. And stuck Lisa on the back yesterday for a 375 mile run up Mt. St. Helens and back. With her on I kept it under 135 MPH. How fast do others go with a passenger??

I can manage to look at the bike whilst being forced to drive the car until my wrist is strong enough to pass the surgeons next inspection. And despite constant needling and repeated wisecracks from Uglystick, I have not washed nor polished the bird.

Why bother? You can live the washing and polishing vicariously through him anyway. The whole board probably could, between Ugs and TigreST.

I ride it 100-150 mi/wk -- whenever I wash it it rains!
Nothing gets the angry Jersey bugs off better than a ride in the rain though, so less washing and more riding!

Going for a 'lil ride tomorrow - 500mi out and 500 back on sat -- looking forward to it!!!!

Put a voltmeter on it last week so now the R/R will last forever!

Some of the replies here are hilarious!!! Thanks for the laughs!
Over the past month, I've replaced the OEM levers with a set of black Pazzos (full); installed a set of R&G Frame Sliders (was very sad to cut my plastics), changed the OEM rear pegs with black billet aluminum pegs and hopefully this weekend I will get a chance to install the Scorpio i900 alarm.
Shewie, can you share any pics of your tach?

I think I have one posted in another thread. Lemmie see if I can find it.

How's that? That was taken while the motor was still in backwards, I don't really wring it out like that. If you want one, John at JAWS sells them. You'll have to modify the needle with some colour ( I used nail polish) as it's hard to see on the new background.

Thanks! I've been toying with the idea of doing that but not sure how I will feel with the stark white background. Oh yeah, I alwso changed the rear indicators to smoke LEDs and just ordered an integrated tail light with a smoke lense.

Let me know if you can see the pics from this link: http://2wheelersgroup.wikispaces.com/Member+Mods
