well most will always say go newer but as we know newer isn't always better per say! i favor the carbie but i have one, i have ridden with a couple of fuel injected ones ,but didn't see any advantage over mine so ! what ever floats your boat!
I like carbies best man.
So much less to go wrong.
Much smoother throttle action (with properly serviced carbs...)
More get up and go, even though it evens out at 150+mph due to the ram air. But up to that the carbie picks up much stronger..
But... each to their own man! I kinda like the fact that my bike is 15 years old... Haha! Makes their faces even funnier to watch when you destroy them...
i have a ´97 with +100.000km
i don´t clean
i don´t care
i don´t swap cct´s
i don´t swap r/r´s
i don´t swap bearings
i was http://www.cbrxx.com/body-paint-electrical-lights/10235-shot-down-flames.html
i don´t change the oil after 6.000km (more like 26.000km)
i just use that damn thing
and as long as the lcd clock is working i won´t have electronical gerbils (aren´t those little gnawers cute?)
etc...
blabla...
so a working machine is in context with good sex? greek brains are an eternal mystery to me :smilebig:
when i think over...
wasn´t it a greek thing when they built a huge machine and a lot of men have been inside it/her?

Do you have any laws covering the age of the vehicle insured.. Here some insewerance companies do not want to comprehensively insure a vehicle over 10 year old.
I have no doubt that in years to come the first Carbies will be labelled 'The Classic Blackbird' and good condition ones will fetch decent money. Riding it might prove more difficult if the Tree Huggers win the battle, no CAT, Big Carbs and Big Jets = Planet Fu.ker.
Carbs require 'tending' to keep the motor running really sweet ..... and many riders nowaday (not talking about here!) do not get their fingers grubby and expect a perfect ride every time they press 'go' no matter how much they neglect maintenance ................. which takes me to the first injection models (pre CAT in Europe and elsewhere). I may be biased here since I own a 99 inj but these appear to have the best of both worlds - no CAT and strangling down of the fuel system, yet with minimal maintenance they keep flying.
I do like the digi dash for one simple reason, I've been slightly long sighted since birth (doesn't get better with age) and I can clearly read the speedo on the digi whereas on the 99 Bird with its 200+ clock, distinguishing between 2 marks is not always instantaneous. Even if the figure shown is a bit of a 'whoops' I would still prefer to know.
52000 kays in 2 1/2 years. still stock and still not touched by spanner, Did 354 Kays in its first 2 years, Demo model,
2006 FI, Silver one,
Still goes like a shower of shit.
i would go new to be fair.
but its nice when people cast their eye over the bike that has left them standing and i am 2 up, fully loaded, riding a 12 year old bike.
Some good banter there folks, and some good consideration - thanks
XX-V was mint - truly showroom condition - but for the sake of £1000 the XX-5 takes it. 7 yrs it's junior and half the mileage (11k) - so not quite run in yet
Add the lack of carbs to worry about and a few mods from Honda, ticks all my boxes.
Wurzelbird is a-coming... large excitement... ))))))
which is what it is all about, I would have done the same :thumb:
