Under $1000 so far, I'm kindof on a budget still, the little woman wants to pay off the trucks first, then she says I can go nuts!

Re: How much have you spent on the bird?

Because my 'bird is all stock, I only have to buy maintenance items. So far, then, it's been under $1,000 in my 1.5 years of ownership.

Re: How much have you spent on the bird?

Way to much for a bike not even sold here anymore, but then it's more of a hobby now.

Heli-bars
Traxxion Dynamic cartridges
Wilbers shock
Corbin seat
Galfer rotors front and rear
Carrozozeria wheels
RK chain
Sprockets
Erion cans
Replacement plastics to paint
Replacement tank to paint
Duc Red paint job
Grip heaters
Smoke turn signal lenses
Headlight protector

Yeah that about sums it up.

Re: How much have you spent on the bird?

About 2000$ buying second hand bits off ebay after I dropped it.
Shipping , customs and taxes are killer in Iceland.
When I bay out side of Iceland I can almost double the prise with shipping = 100$ + 40$ in usa while end up in Iceland about 220$
After that renegade carbon slip-ons,
crass protectors,
hot grips from oxford,
and son zero gravity Turing screen.
And I am looking for a good prise on PCIII for this summer

Re: How much have you spent on the bird?

It's kinda like MTV.. too much is never enough (Back when MTV actually played music and Martha Quinn was still a VJ.. YUMMY.. but I digress)

Lessee, excluding maintenance:

On the 02...
Racetech fork springs
JAWS Preload Adjusters
JAWS Shrooms
Wilburs rear shock
Silver wheels from a canadian XX
VFR Bars
Steel braided clutch line. (I have the whole brake kit, just haven't put it in)
Pro Grip gel grips
Givi Windscreen
Mig High mounts
Corbin Smuggler
BeadRider bead seat
HID Low beam
RK Frame Sliders
ScotOiler
Clear Alternative turn signals (Front and Back)
Sidewinder sprocket rear
18 T front sprocket.
XM/GPS/Passport all wired
Dualstar Heated Grips/HeatTroller

On the 97, I had to re-assemble/build it (Clear title, though!)
Rebuilding stuff:
Came to me needing an upper fairing (or the one I did get needed fixed), an upper fairing stay, wiring harness needed to be spliced, and the rear rim was dented. Center V cowl was missing a connection point. Rhinoliner was sprayed on the lowers and mirror covers.

I picked up a polished rear rim from a .org board member, and a fairing stay from University Motors, and a V Cowl from Scot (although eventually I found one on Ebay and sent it to him once he decided to rebuild his XX)

Farkles/Extra stuff:
I picked up a set of lowers on Ebay. They are off being painted right now (Thanks Anna, I have decals now!) Still need to get a set of mirror covers for it, though.
Carbon Fiber look levers
Came with a Yosh 4-1 system and K/N filter.
Center Stem Mount (Thanks Mack!)
XM/Passport Wiring
DualStar Heated Grips - No heat troller.
Corbin GF/Lady
BeadRider bead seat.
ScotOiler.

Eventually gonna be doing Powder Coating.. I have a spare swingarm and will be powdercoating it black, along with all of the footpeg/heel mounts and rear sets.

Re: How much have you spent on the bird?

Come on guys, post some pics! Look at the descriptions of hobious, john01xx, canadianbird, and many others. You guys have done big mods, but no pics? Show every one what the finished product looks like. Take a couple good pics and get em on here. Better yet, do a tech article with before, during, and after pics. You know how bad most instructions are written, and we all usually find a better way. Pull em out and show em to everyone!

Re: How much have you spent on the bird?

Confession, I don't know how to post a pic. I have spent $8,000+ on mods not counting labour. I value my ride, for insurance purposes at $15,000. When I get my daughter to fill me in on how to post pics, and the latest mods are installed, I'll do it. The Penske, springs, braided hoses are not installed. I'm waiting till March cause it's gona cost a bit. I don't ride at night but will install HID's in the fall, after I cut some cupons.I don't do much bling just comfort and performance. But I do have every receipt for every penny I've spent on my Bird. I keep a big binder and in it is the original bill of sale, 1st service and every service and mod since new. Also every article written on the Bird(Brit Mags) since I bought it in '02. The big Honda model booklet the put out in '02, all in plastic folders. Yes, I'm anal over my ride and my record keeping. My wife does not "bitch" on me for what I spend on my ride. I spoil her anyway and she has no reason to "bitch me out. She's getting a new car this year and I just gave her a new living room, dining room, and stove which will be installed next week. MMM I guess I highjacked this thread. I will post eventually, when the weather is nice and the backdrop is pretty.

All mods are installed, just waiting for the Steble Magnum horn.

As I reply to this post I started to feel a little dizzy thinking about it. I do 90% of my labor so not counting that I would say about, ahhh, umm, full size chevy4x4 ext. cab that I don't have! But that chevy don't pull like my Bird!!!

OOOUUUHHHH I am a liar, at first I thought 1 to 2 grand then I read some of the others and that reminded me of other things I have hhhmmm lets see if I can recall it all (I have done gradually over the 8 years I have had it)

5- Zero Gravity dbl bbl wind screen in smoke

7- K&N air filter
8- Re-jet
9- Two-brothers 4-2-1 exhaust (love it)
10- chrome XX decals on side panels
11- Throttle-meister cruise
12- carbon fiber look levers
13- Jaws shrooms
14- Jaws 6mm rear shock shim (wow what an improvement)
15- 16 T front sprocket but waited till done with new chain and sprockets
