salt lake bird

Hi i introduced my self in the appropriate area i feel like a douche as i am an avid member of 1000rr.net and i know how these forums work.

I know i have 1 post count but i am actually inquiring for a friend he has a 2000 or 2001 (cant remember) cbr 1100 he wants to take it to and up coming salt lake run and he wants to go over 300 kms per hour not to sure what that is in miles (his bike is standard) if anyone can recomend what mods are needed to achieve this that would be much appreciated.

I understand gearing is needed +1 in the front and maybe - 2 in the rear ???

Is the bike speed limited ??? if so i take it the bike is EFI ???

With the gearing will the bike have enough power to get it up there ect ect.

Once again any help is appreciated and if anyone has any questions in regards to a cbr 1000 shoot me a pm and i will do my best thanks people.

If it's a 2000-01 it shouldn't be restricted the later ones were. 300kmph on the earlier ones isn't that hard to achieve, a good example is pretty close to that, losing weight and better breathing is the cheapest mod. Replacing the exhaust with a single system will shed big kilos. Add a pc3 and make sure all the drive train is running up to spec no dragging brakes or tight bearings. Any thing after that is a bonus.

Re: salt lake bird

300kph is 186mph. A stock Bird will come close to that but you will need to get alittle more out of it if you want to go faster. Full pipe, filter, PC III dyno tuned and geared should get you where you want to go. If not shoot some NOS at it and it will fly

If its high elevation where he's going you'll need a lot more.1 other benefit for a few mph is ceramic coated wheel bearings.Pricy for bearings but last forever and reduce friction.Reducing friction will be key to high speed, lightening up rotating mass too.Aluminum rr sprocket, wave rotors,Michelin PP2 are lighter tires than others.

Re: salt lake bird

if i recall correctly

the salt has twice the rolling resistance of tarmac so he will need 5 to 10% more power than he thinks

Re: salt lake bird

No,being trying to locate a good source.Only know of 'World wide bearings' in the US,supplies just about all the drag racers.Priced them out a couple years ago,was something like $350 US for the set (5) on the 'Bird.Talked to some pros who said it took .05 off their time.I know everyone going to say"why would you spend blah, blah, blah for .05 second?".Because I race that's why.Mind you I still haven't bought them yet.
