Bring your carby on by, Scrappy, and I'll treat you to a spanking, girly FI style.

Re: Carb or Injection????

Henry Ford once said about the manual gearbox. It is rather crude and lacks sophistication but will suffice until we can develope something better. I think the same applies to carburetors.

We now have auto boxes and FI both of which in this day and age should be relatively trouble free

Yes but we also do not have Ayrton Sennas anymore. Its all just gay kids nowadays. And yes, I like my manly carbs.....

I love my girly FI, It means I dont have to touch them, ever.
You can have your manly carbs that get out of synch, run rough and have to be maintained,
I bought a bike that is maintenance free.
Brian.

ya, thats why ford only sells auto mustang gts to rental agencies and shitty drivers. Thats why lambo n ferrari n moto gp run standard trannys in there vehicles. Auto trannys in bikes will open the sport to dinks who previously couldnt handle riding. Yay. Theres benefits of course to riders who want or need auto I guess, but slammin gears is something ill be doing till I cant anymore. Why? Cause when you cut the balls off the bull, it aint a bull no more. Boo to Ford, boo to auto sports vehicles!!

free of the carb/fi debate (to which I side with fi) my point was that automatics have no business in sports vehicles, because the "sport" aspect is significantly removed. Do we not pride ourselves as motorcyclists based at least partially on the skills necessary to ride? And how we are separate from the others on the road? wheres the skill when all you have to do is give it throttle? I know im off topic, but y'know what? I dont care how much it costs, how much horsepower it has, what technologys in it, two wheels + a motor + an auto tranny = scooter plain n simple. Maybe im getting old.

Re: Carb or Injection????

Ya,it's like traction control in racing, takes away from rider skill.I prefer the days of violent 2 stroke powerbands and the rider controlling what was a difficult machine to control.
Then again some things I'll keep.Like my air shifter on the drag bike.If everyone else foot shifted I would go back to it but you can't let the other guy have the unfair advantage in racing.
The street is different.I would like the OPTION of the paddle shift, because I know its quicker, and I really like quicker bikes. But just sometimes.

It does not make any sense that the bike had more hp elsewhere. Was there any other model that was denied hp in North America?Any?I know some Euro countries are limited to 100 hp,don't know if that still exists.
Seriously,I believe it was marketing hype.
Honda does this kind of thing, hard to believe as it is. When I was told about it, the reason given was the purity and the octain level of the fuel in use in that region. Another example of it happening is the 2002 Honda Integra Type R, It had 200hp in the standard jdm spec but only had 150 in many of the countries that it was released in.

Poundy and I both have 99 models so an answer to this would be for one of us to have the bike dyno'ed and see what she pulls up at..
