Where can I find a Fairing????

Hit some sand on the road and now I need a new fairing. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a replacement fairing?

Thanks Jude

Re: Where can I find a Fairing????

I'm looking at a change in colour for my girl but have heard/read that these fairings from Ebay arent a perfect fit. Has anyone here had any experience with them ?? The seller certainly has some really good looking colours in his range.

I was talking to another member on here about these not long ago, here is his response

The fit on the fairings was alright, I had to re drill a lot of the holes because of the amount of paint and lacquer they used closed a lot of the holes up some.
bolted everything loosely together until I got the fit right then tightened everything up, just waiting on the newly painted tank to come back to try it all out on the highway. You will have to use the clips off your old fairings and a couple extra plastic clips but I had no problems at all.

Also the nose cone has been resprayed with a rattle can by the PO and the RH lower is scratched and to buy new TITANIUM fairings would cost a fortune
The only other alternative is to get them plastic welded and respray with new decals
Will have to send them an email and query how close the paint match is on the TITANIUM looking ones
I am guessing they are made on the FI bikes pattern so there would need to be some fiddling to get the front vent grill etc to mount up correctly
For the price of those I could get maybe the ducktail and decals OEM new
Thanks,
Craig.

I are more than happy with the paint job and I guess the only other question that needs answering is the type of ABS plastic they use now days.
The old fairings that come out of china 10 years ago was too stiff and with vibration of the bikes it cracked a lot after a few years but after handling this set and talking with 4 others that brought from the same guy on eBay every one is happy so far.
I brought mine and got it home for under $900 Kiwi.
I would not waste my money fixing the old fairings, the cost to bring them back to new you could buy 2 sets off eBay,,my opinion,Cheers

Good to hear they should fit the carbed BB's without too much drama
I am thinking the same about the old fairings as by the time I get them repaired and resprayed it would be more expensive than these eBay fairings although a lot cheaper than new OEM

Re: Where can I find a Fairing????

I'm not sure if this one has been included yet.

http://www.nicecycle.com/catalog.php?category=Honda%20CBR1100XX%20Blackbird

I've never done business with them. In a previous thread here someone mentioned these folks. Not sure if they are any good or if they were included in what Para045 mentioned.

Hello,
Does any one know what year body work will fit what bike?
Does a 97 body work fit on a 2000?
Thanks

Thanks for the information.

I'm interested to know how the Flame job turnded out. I saw those too. I'm thinking I want to stay traditionsl.

I guess my next questions is..... Did anyone have any difficulty putting the new one them selves? I noticed on the different sites that I have been too they recomend a professional take car of that part. How did it go for you?

I was looking at a site on here, that had a link to, they had a complete brand new, full set of fairings for XX for $490-00 US plus $300 US postage, Takes about three weeks for delivery, they actually make them. comes unpainted but they say they are ready for any type of paint to be applied. I think they came out of Hong Kong.
Hope this helps,
Brian.

Funny I love the TITANIUM as apart from it being the fastest colour over here in Aus it is quite rare, plenty of slow Blech ones , Blues and Reds and the Iron Nail Silver on the later bikes .
The Ti paint was only available on the 97-98 carbed BB's and even then wasn't common (too fast I guess )

As for your question, all the panels will fit all years apart from the little "chin" panel below the radiator behind the wheel and the 99-07 nose cowls are externally the same but slightly different internally because of the "Ram Air" ducts on the FI bikes Apparently you can get them to fit with a bit of fiddling

Swapping OEM fairings is pretty easy, as in my earlier post Drifter had a bit of fiddling with the Hong Kong ones but no major drama's

moto777.com
they are in kowloon, Hong kong.
Para 045 has the right place.
No idea how well they fit, but if you read their comments, they do state that you might need to drill out some of the holes a bit bigger,
Brian.

Re: Where can I find a Fairing????

Thanks for the info guys. I'm certainly going to look into it. I'd like a spare set as well. Mine are stone chipped as all of ours are I suppose to some extent. I'm thinking of a repsray and getting one of Metzi's full fairing covers and/or a new set of these unpainted fairings and just keeping them in the shed. At least if they come unpainted I can decide later what colour I want and when I'll put them on the bike. I'll never be getting rid of her so resale isnt a big thing for me to be thinking about just yet. Cheers and thanks again.

Just checked out nicecycle.com I'd say I will be going with them when I make a decision. Their stuff looks the goods. I will check the others out though just to be sure.

They all seem to be pretty much the same pictures just different "watermarks" Yet the NiceCycle ones are $889 (inc shipping), the Mung88(Moto777) are $449+ ($228 shipping) -Total = $677 and the Bliss Star are $499+ ($225 shipping) - Total = $724
Quite a variation in prices for what seems the same stuff

Hi Para/deadman,Thought I better sign into this send my quotes are used..Right my kongkong fairings are holding up well and still love them.Any of the hongkong dealers well be allright because they all get there fairings from the same factory in China but I well say moto777 has a good record.

Now the trick to these fairings is to buy the aftermarket fairing and srceen bolt sets off Jaws and you well have no problems.the standard bolts on the bike are set to wide and the china fairings are half the thickness of the honda ones. Also you need to re-use the clips of your old fairing set on the new fairings as these are not supplied with the china sets.
Cheap at twice the price IMO

Hi Drifter,

Any chance of seeing a larger photo of your bike with the new paint job? I just wanna see how they look assembled, before I shell out the bikkies... Many thanks in advance.

Re: Where can I find a Fairing????

Thanks mate, they look the goods. Thanks also for the quick reply.

How do you find they compare with the originals? Are they solidly built or flimsy? And how do you find the paint quality?

Many thanks for your assistance. Sorry to be a pain.

Cheers,

Eddie.

Re: Where can I find a Fairing????

Eddie when I took the original honda fairings off I could not get over how flimsy they were and I think both sets would be as flimsy as each other.the plastic wields on the china set look weak but on saying that mine are holding up.The honda set is twice as heavy and thick as the china set and the paint work on the china set is good but I see I have a few white spots on the bottom fairings from stone chips,,easy fix.
Now the flames on my fairings are actually stickers and not painted on,hence why so many sets the same on ebay the same.
You have to look real close to see the edges and they protect the paint well(No stone chips where the stickers are.)
End result I love it and if I drop my bike it is no great cost to buy another set or put the honda ones back on.
Cheers..Kim
