vfr clip on

Does anyone know where relatively cheap VFR Clip-ons might be located? They look 100% more comfortable in regard to riding style. Just put on the touring windscreen; helps a little, but now need improved riding position. Looks easy to configure over the stock bars. Read they need to be 02 or 03 clips on from VFR.

Re: vfr clip on

When I was looking for mine I tried salvage yards, craigs list, ebay and VFR forums. I eventually got lucky and found a set on ebay. You can get them from a honda dealer new but you'll be paying honda prices.

Re: vfr clip on

Yes they are very easy to install. 1 hour tops. You don't have to run new brake and clutch lines as you do with some of the other bar riser options so its mostly take the old bars off and put the new ones on. You do have to cut a locking tab on the master cylinders to allow the clutch and brake lines to rotate into a new position caused by the higher bars. I would recommend a dremmel for cutting the tabs although you can use a hack saw. Its soft cast metal. You need to loosen up the hydrallic cable lines to reposition them into the new angle. Have rags wrapped around them and do not squeeze the levers while the hydrallics are loose. There is an excellent set of instructions on this site. If you search BARS you should find the instructions. If you can't find it let me know and I can send them to you. As far as the benefits of the bars. I wasn't uncomfortable in the stock position but I don't sit in the saddle for more then a couple of hours at a time. I do find the VFR bars to be even more comfortable then the stock ones since they do pick you up about an inch. Changes the entire riding position. I love them. They look stock on the bike which is another plus. In the Bars thread there is also a link that has a series of pictures of serveral different bar options. I think that Helvet linked up the pictures in that thread. Let me know if you have problems finding the BARS thread or the instructions.

Strek pretty much covered it, but I concur.. they're very easy to install and I too find them very comfortable. The biggest difference for me was taking the pressure ache of the outside edge of my palm. I would say these added roughly a good 30-40 miles to my saddle time between breaks and maybe as much as 100 miles to my daily limit. Combined with the peg lowering brackets and corbin seat my 'ol bird is pretty comfy.

the only other installation issue you may have is transplanting the bar end retainers. Sometimes you'll get bars with them already in place but the ones I ordered new required me to remove the ones from my stockers and insert them into the VFR bars. It's a little bit of a pain to do without boogering them up but with a little patience and some WD40 they'll come out intact.

Re: vfr clip on

Drifter... Just been all over ebay looking. I did spot some VFR clipons but only one set that are from model year 02 and on. The set that I found that are 02 are actually Helibars not stock Honda VFR bars. I already have a set of VFR bars myself. I was just looking for those here that are looking for a set of these. Am I missing them?

How much do you want for the bars? They look like they ride higher than the VFR bars! Is there major cutting and adjusting to fit these bars?

I'm really NOT trying to be a smartass, but "100% more comfortable" = the same as whatever the "base" is that you're comparing it to. If you said 200% more comfortable, then it would be TWICE as comfortable. If you said 130% more comfortable, then "it" (whatever it is you are referring to) would be 30% more comfortable, etc. FYI. Have you thought about GenMar risers? Handlebar Risers Handlebar Accessories Custom Handlebars Motorcycle Handlebars Motorcycle Handlebar Accessories Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki - GenMar Mfg

I have them on my '99 and would never go back to stock. They just pop UNDER you existing clip ons. Good luck!

I bought the ones on EBay last night-I currently use the Genmars but my palms and wrists still hurt-I will post up my feelings about them when I get them installed.

Will the bar risers really make that big of a difference? Appears as it is only 3/4 inch higher.

The Genmars will raise them about 3/4 of an inch...not sure about the VFR bars.

I found that the 3/4" made quite a bit of difference for me.

I guess calculations in the USA are different from Europe.
Here 50% more means +50% and not half the total....
So 100% more comfortable is twice as comfortable, and 200% more comfortable is three times more.....

Helvet thats the way I took it as well. The operative word to me was MORE. To me this indicates in addition to or on top of. I guess its a matter of perspective.

Re: vfr clip on

I'm using the VFR bars and a set of Gen Mars. Works great. I was ok with just the VFR bars until I added a Corbin and the flatter seating platform really made me notice the reach, but now with the Gen Mars it's about perfect... any more and it would be a Gold Wing.

Check out and/or put a WTB ad on VFRd.com, those guys are always putting Heli's on them and selling their stock bars....

Hi Rob,
I saw your post about using VFR bars and GenMar risers together, it sounds great! I want to do the same thing, did you have to change any cables or hoses? Do you have to re-route cables or hoses? If you could tell me what you did I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks, AL

100% as bright= As Bright or equally bright.
100% more bright= Twice as bright.
200% more bright= Thrice the IQ.

I have a pair of brand new VTEC handlebars off an '05 model, never used, complete w/ bar ends and all inners. If you still need a pair make an offer. I am based in Northern Ireland. I was going to sell on ebay but I can keep them off if you want.

Here's a link

IXXRA - VFR Bars on the XX

I didn't create these instructions but I did read through them prior to installing mine. Rags. YES. Make sure you have some rags around the master cylinders when you loosen the hydraulic lines. I would recommend a dremmel for cutting the tabs on the master cylinders.

Oh one other thing. Make sure you don't squeeze the levers when you have the hydraulic lines loose. If you do you will end up doing some bleeding of the lines like I did on one side. They are pretty easy to install.

Links broken What about this or this HERE as well

As per the 1st link I just did as Tiger St did, except I used a hacksaw to take the 2 front lugs off the MC's and undid the banjo bolt just enough to be able to rotate the banjo's with a bit of effort but not let in air
