Re: Peg lowering brackets

Fitted mine today. Feels better just sitting on the bike, but have not taken it for test ride yet.

Have not found out how to change the spring tension yet, as I could not download the images from the .org site, even after registering.

How can you bend a high tensile spring, or put in an extra turn, to take up the slack? Advice please.

Chris

Re: Peg lowering brackets

If you want to keep the look of your feelers without trimming them, the newer VFR peg feelers match the stock bird look and are about 2/3 the length. Part # 90176-MCW-D00. Cost me $3.27 each from the stealership.

Re: Peg lowering brackets

Dave,
Mine turned up today and they look A1. A tweek here and there with a fine mill file and they will be a 100% perfect fit. Far superior to some of the so called precision accessories that I look at in the shops, let me tell you!

Top job mate.

I will fit them up tomorrow as I am suffering from the flu and work has sent my diseased body home so I won't infect all my co workers. Now where is the fun in that I ask you.

Only 3 weeks to go and I set off on the first big tour in years. 3 weeks travelling and about 7,000 to 8,000 klm so I will give the brackets a bit of a torture test. I know for a fact that the honda pegs will be a lot more comfortable than the buels I have fitted now.

Many thanks & Regards

MG

Re: Peg lowering brackets

Dave W, Just epoxy glue a small piece of aluminium onto the side stand stop and it will give you clearance.

Regards

If you have access to a welder, weld a bead there. I also ground off the "heel grabber" for putting it down as it interfered with shifting up.

I installed the 6mm shim not too long ago, and while my sidestand was off for the previous, I welded on a small stack of plate for added height. Then I drilled 2 1/2" holes for weight reduction. I painted it and called it good to go.

Re: Peg lowering brackets

Received mine last week and they are well made-fitted them to my '98-I had to do quite a bit of mill work to get them to fit-after all this I came to the conclusion my pegs are not factory-they are Honda but I think they came off of another bike...I ended up taking mine back off-I did not like the way the shifter was located. Anyway, thanks-they are nice and well made.

Re: Peg lowering brackets

jjmcjames,
You have to adjust the shifter, the brake pedal and the brake light switch after installing the new brackets. It's not difficult at all and is very worthwhile, particularly if you are anywhere near a 32" inseam or have a lowered aftermarket seat.

Re: Peg lowering brackets

I tried adjusting the shifter and could not get it outboard enough-the height was easy but I never could get it out far enough. I did like the way my feet/legs felt as far as position...may give it a shot this weekend.

Disregard my last post, Prolly a good idea to shorten the feeler pegs, came round a fast right hander yesterday feeler started to scrape leaned over further then it dug right in & snapped off at the footpeg. Hero my arse nearly stained my undies
