Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont New York vacation plans

I am heading out from Western New York towards Vermont, New
Hampshire and Maine. Does anyone have any great roads to ride
or suggestions of stops in any of these states. Bike shops, eateries
and scenic views... anything vacation oriented.

Check out Vermont SR17 which goes through the Green Mountain region, also known as the Appalachian Gap. For great scenic views it's hard to beat Mt. Equinox, also in Vermont. Check out my Americade 2009 thread where I have posted some pictures that I took from the top of Mt. Equinox.

Another "don't miss" road is the Kancamagus Highway, SR 112, which runs between I-93 and SR 16 in northern New Hampshire. In leaf peeper season, late September through early October, it can get clogged with tourists in slow moving RVs but it's got incredible fall foliage views. We used to occasionally see A-10 Warthogs flying low-level training runs in the valleys alongside the highway.

I'm interested in this as myself and the missus would love to go over to the NE US for a spot of touring and maybe try to fit in Laconia week.

VT info- their is a grid in vt that is great. NS roads are rt 100 on the eas side and rt7 on the west. This is a grid in the green mountains. The E-W roads are rt 125 & rt73 & rt 17 thest 3 roads are mt passes start from the south end and mak sure you end this run on the west end of rt 17 at the intersection of 100 & 17. then make a left & go get a ice cream sunday at the Ben & Jerrys ice cream factory & take the 20 min tour.

Do 93S from 89 in Vt. Franconia Notch is purty and a couple of stops along the way are nice (the Basin for one). Stop in Lincoln to eat at The Poor Mans Pub and take the Kangamangus to N.Conway to see the N. Conway R.R. Then double back down I93 to w Weirs Beach. Nice roads and nice people!
