Myrtle Beach Bike Week '09

Anybody going this year? I'll be leaving on Wed or Thurs. With all the rumors of cancellation (like every year), and tighter restrictions in the city of Myrtle, I don't think it'll be as crowded as last year.

Re: Update slash Who's goin to Myrtle Beach?

I've heard that it's not happening. The black bikers gig went south, and pretty much everyone else isn't going because of the lack of interest from the city to welcome them. It sounds like the city is sort of divided on if having bike week is good or bad thing. It is however hurting the local economy.

I'm on the other side of the country however, so none of this is first hand.

Re: Update slash Who's goin to Myrtle Beach?

O.k., I'm back! Great effin weekend! Didn't pass through the city of Myrtle not one time. Didn't have to. The motto this year was "not a dime in '09" and I didn't cross the picket line. I hear the city took a beating from the lack of the usual revenue these two weeks. Only difference I saw from last year was the lack of as many sponsored events, I think. There was a mc show, stunt shows, club competitions, and entertainment, so I hear. I pretty much partied from sun-down to sun-up at local venues in the surronding towns, so my riding was limited to late afternoon into the evening. Spent a lot of time at a local mc clubhouse, where they have a drag strip. (no I didn't, before you ask)
Only saw two Birds the whole time, met one of the pilots, and plugged our site of course. I'll post pics of them tomorrow. Saw world drag record holder Rickey Gadson and his anniversery Kawa. No pics though. Waited to long and he was gone.
All-in-all, a great time. Not as crowded as years past, I think a lot of folks thought it was cancelled completely, but each day brought more and more people. A lot of SICK customized bikes, mostly busa's, of course. From wicked paint, to hydraulics, seen it all. The best for me was seeing all the women riding their own bikes! Very sexy! The bikini clad pillions were o.k. too. (sorry DDD, only one good pic, I'll send it too ya!) There's also a lot of fat-girl bike clubs out there too! It was like a phenomenom. They were everywhere! I was too busy for pics, but next year I'm gonna dedicate a day just to get all those shots!

Re: Myrtle Beach Bike Week '09

send me that one good pic you got.

glad to hear you had a good time.

I knew the surrounding areas would be refuge, but it's still ashame.

maybe next year the surrounding areas will get more organized events.

I do like having a place where all the college kids and cars are NOT!
keep it G&S (grown and sexy)
