I might take the scenic route, turn off at innisfail to go east and than south from there (onto hwy 9 or something) Peter, (this previously discussed last weekend's ride, but figured i'd use it again) Last edited by 2000bluebird; 05-26-2009 at 2:26 PM.

Boring, not a twisty in sight. However, have a safe and fun ride. I'll be riding the new Whistler highway today. Maybe up the Fraser Canyon tomorrow.

i know i know, we dont have the privilige in central alberta of more than a handfull of good corners, but riding a bike beats driving a car anyday. to make up for the non corners here, im heading to vegas and san fransisco this summer though. that will give me my fix.

i begin to understand why so many of you ride with touring tyres instead of soft and sticky ones. the last days i often visit Google Maps and have a look where/how you folks live - i feel sorry for some of you! really! |

As CB says Sea to Sky Highway is very nice but I do have to say it gets boring after having done it numerous times but so does any ride. Looking forward to hitting some new stretches this summer and getting into Washington where I have not spent enough time

Cisco, call me when you want to enter Washington, I have the book. And yes, I getting a bit bored with the S to Sky but it's an easy blast on a weekend a.m. When Jimbob does his "biker boyz weekend" perhaps you can join us.

Alberta roads suck. Even in the mountains they're designed for Semi's and RV's. In 2 weeks I'm heading south as far as New Mexico, meet the STN boys in Gunnison, Colorado, visit a lawyer to deal with the remnants of my last Colorado attempt, say hi to the nice nurses etc. I'm open to suggestions for the best way to get around Salt Lake City. Anyone seeing a Blue Bird, pulling a black trailer with and old couple on it, say "hi". Wow, I can't remember the last time I posted on this site. Nice to see some more Alberta XX's besides Lois. |

Just got back from the WSB in SLC. SLC is tough to bypass but depending on how you are going down, this is the route I rode. Only had about 15 minutes on the interstate near SLC. Great roads. I rode to Laurel, MT. Nothing special to get there but I went down through Pincher Creek, Browning, Choteau, GF's, White Sulfur Springs, Harllowton, and then to Laurel. From there: Beartooth Pass - 212 Cody, Wy - via Chief Joseph hiway (296) Jackson, Wy - via 20 & 89. thru Yellowstone (lots of construction in the park but there is no way around) Montpellier, ID (89) Woodruff, UT (via 89, 30, 16) Huntsville, UT (via 39) SLC (via 167, I84 eastbound) 66, 65 to I80) Great roads and scenery. Once you get on I80, take 215 to get to I15 and it is pretty much freeway all the way out of SLC and you get to bypass most of the city. Have fun! Rod |

Rod, Last year I flew down to the race (my first WSB) and road my bike back (friend rode down and flew back). The race was a great experiance and then the ride back was awesome. We rode up 84 to 15 and to Blackfoot (flat and fast) then headed east and north on 26 and 93 to Missoula and spent the night. Next day 200 to Sandpoint then 395 and 2 to Kettle Falls then backroads to Oroville (my cottage) the back to Vancouver. 3 Days of incredible riding, only thing was I didn't own a Bird at the time, but it truly was a great 3 day ride. Seeing the race was a whole new experiance and I'm bummed because the same group is headed to Laguna seca for the Moto GP and I can't go. Oh well, next year. |

Jim, We came back via Sun Valley, McCall, Missoula, Sandpoint, Colville, Trail, New Denver, Revelstoke. Except for the run from SLC to Sun Valley, we had great roads all the way. I rode my ST not my 'bird. Still not up to 7-800km days on the BB. The WSB was a good experience. Spies just ran away and hid from the field. The best racing of the weekend was the Supersport class. The pass that Safoglu pulled off on the last lap happened right in front of us. Too bad you can't make Laguna. Never been there but the guys I rode to WSB with went a couple of times. Said it was great!! Rod |

Good suggestions, and I'm gettiing some ideas. So far I'm thinking going S via the west slope of the Rockies. ie: Kalispell, Missoula, Monpelier and Grand Junction. So far there's less than 60 miles of interstate involved. ( HWY 2 to Ft. McLeod doesn't count......... though it's probably the most boring ride of the entire trip.) And planning on going back over the Eastern Slope, ie Jackson Hole, Cody, Beartooth and Great Falls. In order to have 4 days in Gunnison area, we're planning on averaging 660 km/day. Easily done if you don't screw around. Good thing the wife's a trooper her only real problem seems to be staying awake. Worse comes to worse, and I'll hit the Interstate for an afternoon to get caught up. |

Rather than 2 to Ft McLeod, take 22 to 3. It does not have many corners but the scenery is great. If you are heading to Kalispell, it is also a bit quicker. The best way to access it is either via 1&22 thru Bragg Creek or 22X just south of Calgary, or 7 south of Okotoks. Rod |

Hat's off to riding on Chief Joseph Scenic drive and Bear Tooth Pass. I enjoyed the ride through West YellowStone and down to Jackson, Wyoming. It's a good ride down 22 through Pincher Creek and the National Park, Waterton Lakes. I crossed into East Glacier through Mary. Get gas and have a pie there. I rarely ride more than 600-650 kms per especially with my wife. Cody is a funky town. I rode coast to coast and rarley rode the Interstate. Too fast, too many big semis driving too fast, etc. I've driven around Utah, but never ridden around there. Cheers

![]() Southern UTAH was my favorite ride, probably because of great roads, and unique (to me) scenery. South of Yellowstone will be new to me as last time I ended up flying home. Coming from Edmonton, and with the speed on the Deerfoot, I wonder if 22 will actually be faster. I could see it if I was in western Calgary, or hitting it during rush hour.

If you stay on 2/Deerfoot thru Calgary and then get on 2A at the Aldersyde/7 turnoff and then take 543 (just north of High River) you come out just north of Longview on 22. This will save you about a half hour and give you a much nicer ride than continuing on 2 to Ft McLeod and then taking 3 to Lundbreck. Rod |
