Aussies hit the snow May 2009

Three of us went for a ride through Gippsland, staying overnight at Ensay.
A good night and a few beers, Rums and whiskeys,
The back roads of Gippy are mostly twisties,
We werent going over the top at Mt Hotham cause it was snowing all last week and the roads were closed. The Two Blokes I was with had never been up there, So I said we will ride up as far as we could and turn back where the road is closed, needless to say they had reopened the road and went over the top at Mt Hotham, We had to cut short our trip and come home via the Hume, 250 klms of slab, Yaaaaaarrrrrrrkkkkkkkkkkkk as the last piccy will show, I had run out of tread and did not want to go home on the grouse twistie roads and blow a tyre and kill myself. Leave it for Another day, You whimps that wont ride in the snow, Hahahahahahahaha
Cheers,
Brian,

For Aussies. That is snow, We are more used to +40 degrees Celcius.
Last week they had a metre of snow on them, winter does not start here for another 6 weeks, We have good roads, that one has only been built ten years ago, and the riding is magic, From there to Bright, Is about 40 miles of good clean tight twisties, Its worth the ride up there for them.
About 450 Klms from Melbourne.
Cheers,
Brian.

Not bad, considering a couple of months ago the state was on fire....

Re: Aussies hit the snow May 2009

you would have been better/safer coming home on the twisties.. you only use the centre of the tyre (where its worn) when your runninng straight and level. At least in the twisties you only crossing the centre of the tyre on a direction change other than that your using the outers and they still seem to have tread.

The wear thats left is due to the higher pressure 42 psi, if I drop it to 40 psi it will even the wear across the whole tyre and I wont just wear out the centre bit, Thats canvas about to come through,

it was safer coming straight down the hume, If it blew I had some where reasonably safe to control it,

Through the twisties I wanted to come home on, 300 foot sheer drop on one side of the road, blow a tyre on those twisties and your airborne,
Not even worth thinking about.

Are you still running those ten year old tyres on your bird or have you finally changed them,

Cheers,
Brian.
