Republic Of Texas Rally - Austin, June 11-14

I'll be at the ROT rally (never miss it) - come and find me. First year there on a non-v-twin, I can't wait until the comments from my buddies down there start lol.

Don't let me be the only Blackbird that shows up...

Awesome! I know the group I ride with is going to ride out to Shiner on Friday, you should make that if you can for sure. Saturday I expect to be split between Rick Fairless' booth and Jaxson Fyffe's booth, depending largely on whether or not we take the Strokers Bikini Team down this time.

Re: Republic Of Texas Rally - Austin, June 11-14

Never been.

Understand Sturgis has nothing on ROT except the Blackhills!

I'll ride up & watch the "crazies".

Understand it gets rather interesting after dark.

regards, jim

Re: Republic Of Texas Rally - Austin, June 11-14

@ Jon --->Nice, Shiner, TX...if you've never had a Shiner Bock, you've never had a real beer - It is the 'bees knees'. What time you reckon stands are up on Friday? I'm on the air till 9, I may have to meet you in Shiner around or after noon'ish.

@ Jim ---> I do have to say that the Blackhills are some fantastic riding, but I can't compare as I haven't been through the Hill Country just yet. Nonetheless, I can attest to ROT being just as crazy as Sturgis

I live in Uvalde, 30 miles south of "The Three Sisters" or " The Hundred Mile Loop" (RR335, RR336, & RR337) are without a doubt the best motorcycle roads to be found in the Hill Country of Texas.

Re: Republic Of Texas Rally - Austin, June 11-14

SWEEEET a group of Birders!

Sarge - yes indeed, I have had many a Shiner Bock, as well as a Black Lager or three. I'm *really* hoping that Spoetzl will have some growlers that I can ship out. I expect we'll be stands up in the 9-10 window, not for sure yet. I do know that lunch is planned at Shiner. We'll exchange contact info so we can stay up to the hour to link up.

ROT does indeed get "interesting" after dark...Friday night on Sixth Street in Austin is pretty fun too.

Don't book a room through the ROT website, go through orbitz or travelocity and etc. I'm not sure where we're going to stay this year (one of the other guys is in charge of booking the rooms this year) but we usually either stay at the Embassy Suites at The Arboretum or a little hole in the wall place on the north end of town a couple blocks away from Chouies. MMM...Chouies...

This could be pretty funny...If enough of us show for the ride our birds might outnumber the barcaloungers in the group...Hehehe...And a girl I know in Houston will be the lone ZX6.

Isn't ROT more of a cruiser event?

It's Harley-heavy, yes, but it's been about 25% sport bikes attending the last few years. All bikes are welcome.

Re: Republic Of Texas Rally - Austin, June 11-14

Well geeze, stay out of prison, dude...Of course, we could *all* be in prison by that point.

Too soon to try for a headcount?

Looks like so far:

Myself (Jon)
Sarge
Uvalde (Jim) - ?
99BB - ?

And hopefully Champ and Pacman (new guy to the board in DFW joined today) can make it...Anybody else?

99BB, we take a loop west of I35 from DFW and head down through Stephenville (breakfast stop - chicken fried steak that fills the plate), then down through Lampasas and hit the Blue Bell Cafe in Marble Falls for pie (others ride to live, we ride to eat hahaha). If you're coming in to the rally on Thursday, we could link up in Marble Falls if everything works out right for timing. We'll be stands-up out of Weatherford at 8 am, I think we usually hit the pie house in the 1-2 pm window.

I don't know the name of one the hotels lol. It'll either be on the north end of town a couple blocks from Chouies, or the Embassy Suites at the Arboretum (it's not my year to book the rooms lol).
