Going to Faro ?

Hi Folks, was thinking of getting the ferry across to France, travelling down the west cost, cutting through Spain and then arriving in Faro Portugal next year for the annual Faro Bike Rally. Anyone else from the UK or Ireland going ? Should be a good spin.

Yeah summer 2010. I quite fancy a long spin and a bit of sunshine, we don't get much of it here

Re: Going to Faro ?

Hi Eddie, I think it normally on around the 3rd week in July. I will have to check the website and try to average the rally dates, it's on the same time every year. Moto Club De Faro I think is the name of the club that hold it. We are planning ahead just so it's organised properly and we know where we are going, will probably sail into Santander unless we have more time then we might go down through France, but if the ferry service from Cork gets the go ahead and then we could sail into Gijon just west of Santander. We will see what happens. Would be a nice idea to meet up, the more the better.

Re: Going to Faro ?

No bother Eddie, anymore developements and I'll stick them up here, looking forward to a bit of sunshine and some dry roads, have forgotten what that is although we are supposed to get a hot one this weekend here, all 20 degrees of it Look forward to hopefully meeting up.
Take it handy, and if it's handy take it twice

Re: Going to Faro ?

If you fancy this part of the world. ( Denia near Alicante ) Great roads no speed camara's,I can always organise accomadation.
Last year we rode Spain to Cherboug ferry to Rosslare then north for the NW 200. Then back to Rosslare ferry to Pembroke Thro Wales,England then ferry to France to Spain.
Must say what a great part of the world you live in,and really nice people. We also had great weather. Only thing that spoilt the trip was the death of Robert Dunlop.
Take care
Eddie

Re: Going to Faro ?

Right so, plans, routes and fares are set and the missus is going too, so will have to take it handy . So far there's 7 bikes and 9 people altogether going. Traveling to Wales, riding to Folkestone UK and getting the Channel Tunnel to Calais on Saturday 10th of July and then 3 1/2 days of glorious riding to the south coast of Portugal. Anyone here from the Uk, France, Spain or Portugal or anywhere else for that matter going to this ?

Re: Going to Faro ?

Can you ride through the Chunnel? Or do you put your bike on a train?

Being up in Lancs, I guess you have about 300 miles to Folkestone (Fuel) then a return Channel Tunnel fare of 70 euro oh sorry about £50 Sterling, 2 nights cheap hotel and 2 nights camping on route to faro + return journey and about 400 euro fuel. 40 Euro entry for the 4 days including camping and food vouchers etc. Obviously add on food and drink too.
A lot of Brits go to this and also there is a huge group that travel with the BSH crowd every year too.
A group a my rally mates and mates from an Irish Bike Forum are getting together for this spin.
