I finally got a day off tomorrow after working like a mule for the last 4 weeks. The cheeses got their act together and got us a lot of stores to renovate after a long delay.
I am renting a C14 to be delivered @ 7:00am 6/15 to the hotel in Mission Hills where I have been marooned with PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome) all this time I am away from home. I have it until 9:00pm since I don't want to be responsible for it sitting all night in front of this, er, um, 3 star hotel.
Planning a trip to Angeles Crest Hwy and then north for a big loop and a ride south down Hwy 1. Would be nice if a local group could meet me somewhere and show me some roads around the area........ |

Umm, why would I hate this.
I take it that it is a site that can be for the benefit of XX members (as well as those who ride "other" bikes) - I'm not that close to California, so I'm not going to join up to find out.
My main beefs are when people post things for sale that are not theirs, or join up with the sole intention of selling something - not joining in with the group, both things that are against the rules here.

Well, how about a ride report? Perhaps some impressions of your ride and the C14. To the west of Mission Hills in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties we have some good roads. Lots of places to ride here in So California. Not as many as up north----but enough to keep your skills sharp, nice scenery.
Tell us about your adventure-----happy trails kel

Perhaps if had written it "Lots of places to ride here in So California, but not as many as up north" it would have been clear to one and all----including our Canadian siblings.
Happy trails, kel

The Pashnit reference and sight? If so, you are waaaaaay off base. You can see the pictures of some of the trips they have taken---and they tell you where they are---without paying anything!!! You might actually have to take out a map if you want to plan a trip of your own---but so what? Perhaps if you spent a little more time exploring their site rather than finding something to be combative about you would develop more credibility.
Sorry to burst your bubble----but Pashnit has a great site that I have spent a lot of time on enjoying pictures and stuff about actually riding----and have yet to spend one penny. I will buy in when I'm ready to travel in that direction (Norther California) again.
Happy trails kel

RideonXX,
I am not being combative about this site. I originally posted a reply to CandianBird to say that I didn't have a problem with him posting a link for this site.
I live on the other side of the world, so joining a site like this would be like you joining a "touring Victoria's Central Highlands" site - not much use to you unless you were actually going to come to Australia and tour the central highlands in Victoria.
I'm sure Pashnit is a good site - just not much good to me from where I live.

Try www.destination highways california.ca Maybe not the exact address but their publications are excellent. PS, I bought my Pazzo levers on a group buy from the above mentioned site.

I am sorry that I did not see this thread until long after you went home because I would have taken you to some of the best roads in California.
I hit one today that is only a few miles from Mission Hills up Little Tajunga Canyon.
If you get to come out here for SoCal Adventure part 3, look me up and I will take you to the best roads around? |

Ah, I am still out here, 7/5/2008. I sent my gear home since I didn't want to carry it back home. I am going home for a visit in ten days, then back out for finishing the project. See part 3........
