Doc said she couldn't even stitch it, because the skin wasn't torn, but completely burned away. It would have deformed it if she tried to stitch it. Go figure!

Figured it out all on my own!
SPOILER: The following is just a little nastygraphic, not much. No pics.(this time)
Originally, there was a little clump of fat sticking out of the wound, which I didn't know if it would be sucked back into the leg, fall off, or disentegrate. That was the area that just kept on opening back up and exposing the hole. Well I finally started to peel the scab around the edges, ever so slightly. Just a little every night. I accidentally ripped up a little skin when I got too close to the hole, and some blood got into it. After examining it, I thought, cool, now that blood will scab up and close this thing so it'll heal. Not. Just stayed moist. (I covered during the day, and left open at night btw) So then I noticed the fat went from light to dark colored, and I thought it would scab up too; not. When peeling a little scab last night, I took some of the fat material with it and discovered that the fat had rotted, and peeled off like a wet paper towel. That was the cause of the stench, but now I have a nice, clean, open crater that I can see is starting to heal nicely!

It's fascinating how the body heals itself. Painful, but fascinating. Glad to hear that you are working it out. Doctors can't do much sometimes. I would have thought they could have put a plastic wrap coating or something to keep it sealed and clean, but I guess it is better for the wound to heal in fresh air.
Thanks again for sharing your progress, it's a bit hard for us overseas to keep in touch otherwise and we do want to hear that you are on the mend.
Keep up the positive attitude, there's nothing better for the healing process.

I especially love when the "doctors" look something up in the med books in front of you--well, in all fairness, it's usually the physian's assistant that does that. I can do that myself, so I usually don't go unless I can't stop the bleeding.

Two more "fresh" posts from me folks. Today's update, and the last being when the bike is done.
Sir Dragon, I'll still retain the right, to answer folks as neccessary. Do not be angry at the fact that you have that color of which we do not speak. There are other contributions that you can make to this fine site we have here. G'day Mate!

| UPDATE:
Hopped on the "E" the other day for a quick spin!! Had to get it from the shop, prepping for the sale. Figured it was a good time to see if I was physiopsychically able to hop back on. The knee was still sore, but bendable. First couple'a blocks were a little nervous, but the confidence slowly came back. Took it easy, 4 mile trip up the highway and parked it. Every time I had to set my right foot down I winced a little, but it got less and less. Bird s/b up and running by the end of next week.
