| UPDATE:
Apologies in advance for the upcoming short rant...
HOW THE HELL IS A WOUND ON THE KNEE SUPPOSED TO HEAL IF EVERYTIME YOU BEND IT TOO MUCH, HIT THE STEERING WHEEL GETTING INTO THE CAR, OR LOOK AT IT THE WRONG WAY, THE SCAB CRACKS AND HAS TO HEAL OVER AGAIN AND AGAIN???
Thank you.
Now, got pics of the r mirror earlier this week, and amazingly the mirror and lense are fine! Problem is the housing mounts for both are cracked, so it looks like I'll have to replace the whole mirror after all. I'll be searchin!
ps-
Is there a doctor in the house? Any suggestions on how I can get this damned hole in my knee to close??

I had to keep the scabs from forming hard casings by continually rubbing in moisturising lotion with vitamin E ...................... very effeminate but smelled nice

Army if you have a smell from the open wound you must have gravel, clothing, or something in it. It sounds like it is infected. Get it checked out, you might need a ointment on this wound, they take a long time to heal. Go to the Doc off base if you are concerned about the accident issue.

Mate, tough spill. Very sorry to hear about it all but very much appreciate you sharing it. It helps keep in mind the risks we take and the unpredictability of issues beyond our control.
The healing is the hardest part and seeing the bike injured - that's the hardest part too.
I'm really pleased to see that everyone is chipping in to help you fix up your bird.
It would be a great opportunity to repaint your bike blue! (I hope that got a laugh and not a growl)

Everyone's been great, the moral support is more than enough. This is, after all, the best bike forum on the planet, IMHYAA. Now, as for your last comment, see the colour war thread...PAL!!

Good on you.
It is a great forum, I concur.
But but ... yes, the "How come bike color affect its top speed ?" thread is a load of fun (not color war, it's not war, it's a peaceful and passionate debate). Cool man!

That rut looks almost exactly like the one on Route 206 in NJ that almost tossed me and my daughter off of my Electra-Glide a number of years ago: a long crack that was almost exactly the width of my front tire. Scared the crap out of me.
I wonder how the XX would handle that. The dresser wobbled but kept trucking while I cursed real loud.
The roads sure do stink around here, especially in the spring. However, I just came back from "Chicagoland" and the roads where we were (North Chicago) make NY/NJ's look great. Potholes that almost swallowed my Suburban, one after another.
Sorry about your accident. Let it be the first and last!

Gonna do a follow-up this week. Only just tonight, I can see what the wound is trying to do. A little nasty and graphic, but I'll share w/anyone who wants to know.

Sorry about your accident. Let it be the first and last! | Thunga, You are correct about the roads in North Chicago (which is a far northern suburb of Chicago the windy city). They are terrible. I work up in that area and often ride my bike to work. You really need to keep an eye open and do a fair amount of dodging. They also currently have both major North South expressways torn up for construction at the same time. Real smart planning that one. Many people will often say that there are two seasons here. Winter and Construction.
