Believe it or not Dragon most Americans do care. Our reputation precedes us and mostly the negatives is what is seen and heard.
We are a ornery bunch tho!!!!!

Glad you came out OK----as for the bike----"---that'll buff right out!----"
Haven't seen anyone mention Ron Ayers Motorsports - Motorcycle, ATV, Jet Ski and Generators Parts and Accessories for parts. I have used them with very good results.
Going down in gear will make a true believer for sure----happy trails kel

I understand your pain there, ArmyStrong. My last 'bird (also red), went down similarly, not from a rut, but from oil/deisel/glycol on the road, (never actually spotted what caused it), at about 60-65mph. All hail good gear, I had a friction burn where my sleeve twisted when I hit the road.
Your bird was lucky to keep sliding, mine hit a post on the roadside cheesecutter & was almost completely trashed. Thankfully you can repair yours! It may take a while, but it will be worth it. At least you shouldn't have a 3 year wait before getting back on 2 wheels. |

Army, damn glad you're ok. Sorry about the bike. I really don't know how you ride around the greater NYC area to begin with. You must have brass balls man . I just drove through there yesterday over the GWB, 95 and 295 to Suffolk County and back and was thinking that it's got to be crazy riding a scoot in that area.
Hope you heal quickly and get the Bird back together.

Glad to hear your okay and up walking, its terrible to see things like this happen due to bad roads. I'm glad you posted the pics, especialy the road. Now I know better what to look for. After seeing the pics of your road rash it makes me feel better that I wear armoured over-pants when I commute. I've been teazed a few timea about it from buddy's of mine but no more.
Just a side note; I worked with the Army while stationed in Tikrit, some of the best guys I've ever known. |

Thanxx again guys. Feel free to use my pics to illustrate the importance of the gear (or lack thereof)! Where'd you get the armoured over-pants Sandsquidxx? Think they'll go good w/the hockey equipment (goalie) that I'll be wearin when I get back up??

I often wear Draggin' Jeans, Kevlar lined on the knees sides of the thigh and across the butt. I'm sure you can get them or a similar item over there.
Hope your scrapes heal well and soon!

I have 15K on them, been great in cold and wet weather. Just pull the liner out and they fit great over the BDU's. There's others out there, these are very adequate for 150bucks.

Was this your first time "down"? I've gone down once, it wasn't fun, but i was pretty fortunate, as it seems you were.
after seeing this I might just invest in some real frame sliders...just in case.(currently just delrin mushrooms)
Good luck getting her back in order, we need more red beauties on this board.(after all they are the fastest)
and heal up quick | Duane,
I'm gonna have to theorize about the frame sliders, since I've given it some thought...if I had sliders on, they may have protected some of the side fairing, might have to paint anyway, and it might've caused more damage on the back side, with the front being made to sit higher from the sliders, Whaddaya think?? Of course they'd still be good for tip overs, or low speed drops.

i honestly don't know...but why would they be called "sliders"?
seems like they were designed for this exact experience

Hope your scrapes heal well and soon! | Thanxx, healing up nicely, though not fast enough!! It'll surely be the Draggin's or the Gusset's that X1rider suggested!

Army-
I didnt see this post until today. Hate to hear about anybody taking a spill. Be tough and be strong. Make sure you and the bike are both ready before you get back on the road. If nothing else you learned a lesson about the importance of wearing the right gear. Looks like your coat and helmet and gloves saved the upper part. Make sure you get something to cover up the lower extremities. Take care of yourself first. The bike will be there when your ready.
