There is a place around here (Chicago) that repairs faring parts. They also repaint. They might not be able to fix every piece. In looking at your pics Im thinking that they might be able to fix some of the pieces. Have you tried looking into that option for the pieces that aren't too bad. My guess is that this option would work best for pieces with cracks where the part can be plastic welded back together and not with pieces that have large holes or a lot of material seared off. If you want the number for the place around here I can look it up. I had a knock down in a garage years ago with one of my older bikes and had a faring piece crack. Took it to this place and it looked new when I got it back. They did a nice job with the paint. Perfect match. It was about a third of the cost of getting a new one. I found this place in my area by calling some of the local repair shops and asking. Might be some places like that out by you. There are also ads in some of the mags for places where you can order aftermarket faring parts. I think these would be the same size and shape but I believe they are made of fiberglass or some other cheaper material. May not be as solid as a new one or stock faring parts. | Thanxx Strek! My mech said he could repair the plastics, I believe he said $350us for the upper cowl, and $250us for the side, but I could be wrong. I'll look for less expensive alternatives in the mean time. I've checked out some of the aftermarket fiberglass stuff and I believe they were expensive as well. I'll be lookin!

Bike isn't too, too bad, could always be worse, thankfully it didn't flip.
Not sure how your insurance works there, if enough damage they might write it off, if that is the case, buy it back and fix it yourself. I did just that, bought my bike back, if ya want to know more about how it works etc...let me know.
Not sure about there, but in Nova Scotia, if proven to be the (state's)highway's fault, the province will pay your damages etc.
Our highways are hellish this year, I am sure a few will go down, considering the taxes we pay, this shouldn't be.
Take care and keep us informed on how you're doing. | Thanks Crystal!! Didn't mean to dampen anyone's mood, I tend to stay at the other end of the spectrum , just thought my pals would be curious and may be good info for someone out there. Got the food, beer, and remote covered too! Yep, I think the Bird took care of herself best she could during the slide. Not too bad considering! I'll pm you with an insurance question. Thanxx again!!

Mate, sorry to hear about the off. Good to see you were wearing your gear. You'll be walking with a limp for a while, but at least you'll be walking.
Keep us informed about your progress with the bird.
Hope you're back on the road real soon.

O-U-C-H! For you and the bird. Glad that you are OK for the most part. That really sucks though. Time to start searching ebay or craigslist for parts....
After wearing out a pair of Draggin' Jeans for 6 years, I decided to upgrade to Gusset Jeans Defender M/C jeans. A lot more comfortable than the Draggins' due to the gusset design. The Kevlar isn't quite as thick, but I imagine it will do the job. See here: Diamond Gusset Jeans Official Web Store |

Ouch, on the rash on you and the bird. Glad your alright. D.O.T.sucks need to take better care of our roads. NJ no better with our highways. Hope you heal quick and get that bird up and flying again. Stay Strong.
| Thanxx Bro!! Quote: |
Whenever I see changes in the pavement like that I think what happened to you will happen to me. I'm glad you only got road rash out of it. Your BB will ride again and so will you. I got an oil cooler if you need one.
| Thanxx Bro!! I'll pm you on the cooler. Quote: |
Cities are crumbling, infra-structure sucks, G Bush is spending too much of your tax $'s you know where, and for what? Glad you're OK!!! My last off, a simple slip on a greasy road over a wet ped. X-walk, $12,000 in insurance repairs, no cost to me, and it was a s.o.a. Check your frame for damage. Good luck, that's what we have insurance for.
| Thanxx Man!! $12,000????

it does kinda suck to know that you made it all the way to VA and back (in the rain no less) to have this happen.
sorry to hear that you have to cancel your trip to Myrtle Beach, I am headed down there myself.
Hope that you and the Bird can get well soon, maybe you can salvage the trip!!!

dude,
so sorry to hear about the crash, but you're living proof that gear saves lives and serious injury. Glad your OK and will heal to fix the XX and ride again. What you described sounded like a quick and violent thing. The pictures you took of the road look alot like the kind of crap they have in Michigan. I steer away from that stuff and the grinding they'll do to smooth out a road or frost heaves and buckles. Watch out for the front wheel on that "road improvement project" too.

Knees are the worse spots to have bark damage too !
As soon as a scab develops, you bend your knees and it's bleedin' again !
I can sympathise as I nailed a dog doing 90 mph a few years ago and got the same damage with a few broken bones and a punctured lung !

I got some mirror parts for you if you want them. Need to be painted but looks like you'll be painting anyway.
Lets see a picture of whats up behind that right lower. The oil is probably coming out of a busted timing cover, might be an easy fixx, lets see a picture.
Whats most important is you are here to post about it.

Duude, that Suuuucks...
Glad to see you came out of it pretty well...
Was this your first time "down"? I've gone down once, it wasn't fun, but i was pretty fortunate, as it seems you were.
after seeing this I might just invest in some real frame sliders...just in case.(currently just delrin mushrooms)
Good luck getting her back in order, we need more red beauties on this board.(after all they are the fastest)
and heal up quick

Again glad you did not get hurt too bad ,Its one of the reasons i really dont like riding in metro ny because the roads suck! .......... chris

Really sorry to read about your accident. Glad you are relatively OK .
On the bright side, some chicks actually dig the scars, as long as you have a good story behind them . As for your bike, being from Michigan, this stuff is all too common. I believe there might be some recourse as long you are persistant. Kindly keep us informed as to the final condition of your bike, your insurance claim, and to your physical recovery.
Remember,.....................as bad as it looks, ......it could have been much, much worse!
