First off, lemme start by saying...Happy Veterans Day!!!

Now, went for a ride today out to Sugarloaf Mtn, FL. This is the highest point above sea level in penninsular Florida, 300ft. It's also where alot of the bikers around here go & ride, nice twisties w\elevation changes & a posted speed limit of 55 (we're usually twice that ). I've posted pics of this area before, but on today's ride I started having issues w\the Bird. The ride out was fine, nice & spirited, we did a couple of laps around the mtn, then went up top to take a break. We get ready to leave...and THE BIRD WOULDN'T START!!! It just barely had enough juice to cycle the fuel pump, so we push started her . It wouldn't have been so bad, but I was 110 miles from the house . I managed to limp her home, as long as I kept the rpm's above 3500 she ran ok, but died @ a couple of stop lights in town & the guys had to jump off theirs & push me again. I finally got home & the battery was reading 9.3v on the voltmeter, & the R\R was soooo hot, I couldn't even touch it. I guess I really can't bitch though, both the batt & r\r are OEM, never replaced & she's 5 yrs old w\35,000 miles on her. Guess it's time to swap 'em out.
Sorry guys, had to bitch about it, here's a couple of pics.

You may also want to check the condition of the stator to make sure that is in good shape. I know it is usually not an issue after 2000, but, just in case.

That last photo is my view looking out over Port Phillip Bay here in SE Melbourne. When riding (or because of work, driving) down to Phillip Island all I have to do is turn my head to the right and I can have views like this - with the water in the background.

How come there were no pics of you pushing the bike ??? Thas what I really wanted to see.

That last shot is actually from the northwest side of Lake Apopka, overlooking Orlando. There's no action shots cause everybody was busy pushing or blocking traffic

It was a better mental picture with you going too fast.

My '02 has 42000 miles on it and I am on my second battery. Never had a hard time starting the unit, but it goes on the Battery Tender after every ride.
My next battery will be a DEKA ETX9. Serious cold cranking amps and cheaper than a YUASA.

Must be the first time I've seen the words "Florida" and "Mountain" in the same sentence.
