WOW and congratulations !! I would say that you've gone well beyond being a Bun Burner, and have graduated into the Hard Ass Riders Club of America.
Which was it more of, work or fun?

I told him when we started that 2 BBG's per rear tire would be what I would expect. When he did an event called Blister which was 30 people doing back to back BBG's most all of the tires were toast afterwards - so I expected the same (he thought 3 per tire based on Azaro's).
He had about 1000 on the first when we started and it was toast after the first day. The others lasted 2 full BBG's each - none were on cords and really just down to the wear bars, but they could not make another loop.
When it appeared we would run out of rubber I went out and got some Pilot Roads. He did the last two on a Pilot Road and we both think he might have been able to run another one on it.
Bottom line - the new Avon Storms have good grip but do not have the mileage of the old Azaros (and balancing was not that good either).

Thanks Brian
Although I have really enjoyed the Avon AV45/AV46 Azaros on my bike for the last 9,500 miles or so, I ordered another set of Pilot Roads after reading Dale's post.
I'd previously had two sets of Roads before trying the Azaros and both sets easily lasted around 12,000 miles.

This thread brings up fond memories. Warchild returned to the Scene of the crime this past weekend but this time on his newly outfitted 08 Huyabusa with Auxiliary fuel and of course Aux HID lights K8 for the LONG HAUL!!!!!!! - FJR Forum
Nice bike but no way could he complete this ride on that platform - but he is working on the bike to make it acceptable. I just finished doing the annual service stuff on my Bird and It is still a beautiful bike that I can take out anytime (now with new chain) and cross the country.

So while I will likely take the Busa to the Utah 1088 this year, I think the Blackbird is in NO danger of being replaced by the K8 as my primary Endurance Rally bike. |
