Just thought I would let everyone know about a pretty cool event here in Michigan. I try to go every year. Everyone is welcome to join the ride, there is no fee to ride.
its called the MIDNIGHT RIDE
We leave from Rockford, MI at Midnight on August 17 and we ride, arriving in St. Ignace just passed the Mackinaw Bridge at approx 8:30am. We make several stops along the way for gas, coffee, and donuts. There is an average of about 2500 motorcycles that go every year. From Goldwings, to choppers, to sport bikes, to cruisers....
Its a great ride! For more information follow this link: GWRRA Chapter MI-G and click on the 2007 Midnight Ride link on the left of the website. If you have any questions - give me a holler or check the site!

That sounds like a great time.
I love my night-time rides....but I prefer to call them "stealth missions." |

OMG, I can't think of anything worse than trying to share the road with 2500 bikes. Have a good time.

We have a Spring Run every year that brings in about 5000 bikes! No really, its not that bad. The riders are very courteous and we all look out for each other. We don't worry about stoplights because the police officers block them for us. Its a great ride!

My cousin lives up there, and's been buggin' me to do this with him & his buds the last couple years, but I just have no desire to ride up there during the day, ride all night at a probably SLOOOWWW pace with a bunch of Harleys/cruisers, and then be stuck in Mackinaw the next morning tired off my ass, 6 hours from home. Especially since we were just up there 5 weeks ago
If I lived up there though, I'd probably be more interested.
All that aside.....Thank you for the invite |

All that aside.....Thank you for the invite | The pace isn't really that bad, they average about 65 (yeah for a bird thats slow) but its still fun. We do stop every couple of hours though for a warm up (if cold), gas and donuts. So it does break the night up pretty well. They also give you breakfast when you get there..... Its an enjoyable ride, your still welcome to come!

I'm scared to ride at night!!!! Especially in the mountains, and I'd be terrified if there were 2500+ other riders. I guess that makes me "chicken shit". Even with HID's I don't ride at night. I especially like those signs on the highway that state, "High collision area, watch for deer, moose, mnt goat, bears, and idiots. But I do agreee, to each his/her own. I did a Harley ride, the Oyster ride in Anacortes Wash. one year and it was interesting. I guess I'll remain "lonely" just me and my schizoid thoughts. Have a good one, hey Lois, you monster farm boy, when are you going to ride to Vancouver??? You can pitch a tent at the Jerico Hostal, right on the beach.
