Hi all,
Starting to plan my trip to Barbers on 4/20. Just wondering if anyone else is planning to make the trip? This will be my first time attending the race and any input from previous attendees would be helpful also. Thanks!

Get your motel and order your tickets. You'll enjoy evry minute. Plan on a day in the Museum.
It's awesome.
Riding up from FL friday and my son is riding down from TN.
We stay in Talledega. Nice 40 mile ride to the track

Great place..the track has trams that constantly circulate the perimeter road; just jump on to view from a different location whenever you want. The museum is amazing and is a must see; people are friendly, and its right down the street from a motorcycle only resort that offers bands and beer...tough combo to beat. We stayed on the SE side of Birmingham and there were plenty of restaurants, bars, and motels. Traffic wasn't a problem...all in all, we had a great time. BTW,viewing, is somewhat limited to smaller areas of the track from any given vantage point. There are lots of trees and hills, so you pick a spot, watch for a while, and jump on the tram to go see another view...Hank

I'd like to ride South and join you-but do not have the time. I heard the museum is awesome and read an article on it and the track recently-looks like a nice place to visit.

Some people have the pleasure to make a long journey, while others only have the opportunity to travel only 13 miles to get there. Its a shame isn't it. And the Barbers museum is a must see. I hope I'll see you there all 3 days. I will be riding my black beauty XX.

Yep I'll be there all three days. Have paddock passes and will be doing the parade laps on my Ti'Bird. I'll be keeping an eye out for any Birds so maybe see you there.

Just got back from Barber, wish I had seen this post!
Went up with other friends from Biloxi area (MS), through Mobile, Montgomery, then Birmingham.
Arrived Friday, left Birmingham Monday morning. This is our 3rd year doing this trip, always have a good time. Skipped races on Sunday morning (go Josh!) to ride around Birmingham area. Took route 280 (?), then ended up making a long loop back around to Talledaga. Found a great little rib shack near there on Hwy 14 or 34 (I think?), brought said ribs back to track, watched main event...perfect day.
Bike was parked most of the time where the vendors were (down the slope). saw only one other 'XX, South Carolina plates, black with black windscreen, '01 model I think. My friend has a red 'xx, parked in same spot.
My only complaint about the whole weekend is the fact that there are less vendors every year...would have been willing to spend the money, but no real selection...
T-camsxx, you should come for a ride with us one of these days...we head down to the ferry on Dauphin Island and cross over into Florida, returning via Mobile at least once a month!
