ATTENTION UK Riders! May I ask you a question?
I'm looking for must ride roads in the Peaks District, Yorkshire Dales, Lakes District of the UK. If you are from the area or ridin the area and know some good ones you can direct me to please post up road names and or directions or PM me.
I thank you in advance for helping me to find some killer roads in the UK. Any of you Scotts have some I'd like to hear form you as well as I'm coming up.
In America we've got a host of roads like Palomar, the Canyons, PCH, Bear Tooth, Pig Trail, Devils Back Bone and the 33's, Deals Gap, the Blueridge Pkwy, and more. Where do you ride!
So far the only thing I can find is "Go to Ace Cafe!"

Hi Dunedain.
This route> B.I.R.D. - NY and Lakes - Sorted
Is on the UK Bird site ( as above), and is a stonker!! ( Jolly Good).
If you have a look at the other threads on 'missions accomplished' you will find loads of info on route's, places to stop, or places to avoid.
Also have a look on the rideout scheduler on the same site. You will find some maps and marked routes for the sort of places you have mentioned.
I will contact you to see if we can perhaps meet up, but at the moment I'm on standby for Court ( yep.. a cop) that week.
If you ask on Bird.. I am sure ( amongst the abuse) you will get someone who not only knows some great roads in the areas you want, but will no doubt have some peeps ( other chaps or chapesses) wanting to join you.

Know the roads round Buxton, cat & fiddle etc
great roads but IMO now far too heavily used/policed.
The cat & fiddle and the surrounding area will within the next month be totally covered by a network of average speed cameras (50mph or lower).
IMHO the wilds of Mid Wales and Scotland make for far more enjoyable riding even if you are below the speed limits.

Re: ATTENTION UK Riders! May I ask you a question?
TBH UK roads need a local pilot to get the most out of ..... But if you ever get to katies cafe (looks like an old fuel station! Now called the Yonderman cafe) on the A623 (derbyshire dales) then you'll have the best english breakfast in the world, trust me
Let us know when your around as I'm sure some of us can help

Hi ilive 8miles from cat @fiddle keep away! i never go there now they have a speed camera van at bottm of hill, with a periscope type camera that can follow you from three miles away as you come down the hairpins , then it has a dome camera on side of van that reads your plate as you pass at 50mph then you are done, i have seen the camera man up there as late as 10.30pm working on wednesday evening!!so beware , and that comment on
here is right they are camering all the way down soon. to many deaths on that road, offically the most dangerous road in briton for deaths on bikes!!!!
