[quote=dunedain;16914]I'm looking for must ride roads in the Peaks District, Yorkshire Dales, Lakes District of the UK. If you are from the area or ridin the area and know some good ones you can direct me to please post up road names and or directions or PM me.
Try the A7 from Carlisle to Hawick, cracking bit of road, good blend of sweepers, scenery to enjoy. Last time I was there was for Steve Hislops funeral,( ex-British Superbike champ, TT winner, endurance biker who went round Paul Ricard circuit faster in the dark than Carl Fogarty did in the day time). I stayed up there for three days and rode the A7 a few times. Very good.
update cat and fiddle has average speed cameras now some at bottom at macc end and some just past the cat and fiddle so you can ride like a twat from the maccesfield end, all around the hairpins then call in the cat for a brew then carry on past checkout camera good eh, there is also a **** up with the cameras cost 800k to put in but they failed to notice a cut through lane with a 60mph limit which loops back to the average 50mph so if you get done say you went the other route they ****ed that up as well !lol
I went along that route t'other day in the Cage - they have truly and sincerely destroyed that road. Yes, it could be said that a lot less bikers will hurt or killed but surely all it will do is push us elsewhere for our thrills - they cant camera every single road in the UK (or can they?)
From a conservationist point of view I think they have ruined the beauty of the place - from the infamous Cat & Fiddle looking down either flank of the dales - all you can see are big yellow pylons with the "Yellow Vultures" lurking waiting for their prey.
What actions (If any!) can be taken to disable/fudge these things? There MUST be a way...
Steve
